I finally managed to find a copy of Wildfire but where is the source hiding? It doesn't look like it was installed from the CD and I don't see anything on the CD that looks like the source either.

The source came with Wildfire 5.0. The box comes with two CD's - one for Wildfire, and one for the gold version of Jagged Alliance 2.

The source is on the Jagged Alliance 2 disc.

If you just picked up a copy of Wildfire 6.0 - then you won't have a copy of the source.

On the plus side, there are some files missing from the published source code that are needed to run the game. They were posted on the internet and you canget a complete copy of the source code from the Lords of the Bytes website (look under FILES). It is just a 4.5 MB download.

Well, I have both and can describe the box covers.

Wildfire 5.0 has the shadow of a submachinegun cast on a wall with bullet holes. (I think it was a wall, though I remember blood coming from the holes).

Wildfire 6.0 has a similar background of bullet holes with blood. But instead of the shadow of a submachinegun, it has a man holding a German submachinegun from World War 2.

Wildfire 5.0 was released in English (not sure about other languages).

Wildfire 6.0 was released only in German.

In either case you can simply download the source code from the link I provided.

(I understand that replaces the game executable (ja2.exe). You still need a copy of the Jagged Alliance 2 game to get the required data files.)

The copy I got has a Japanese cover and the screening ont he disk is also. The guy who was selling them didn't mention that and I was concerned but it installed and is the English version. I just checked while it was running and it is 5.0.

But it was just the one CD. I have the original JA2 and JA2:gold (and UB) anyway and now the source so I am all set.

Thanks!

sounds like a pirate copy....
a wildfire 5.0 was put out in the pirating groups and lacked the second disk.
