It's Ironic that an announcement meant to reward and encourage members has been twisted into a dung heap of flames and personal insults.

it's not ironic at all. Faux praise will always encourage people to intervene. Real and true appreciation of a person or an oeuvre doesn't require such bigmouth announncements. And whenever somebody screams their appreciation down a road with an amplifier, it gets kinda dubious.

You didn't seriously expect that there isn't the odd Majek in the crowd who doesn't really appreciate faux praise given away truckload-wise, did you?

Intervene? That wasn't an intervention, that was forcing a tired, overstated, off topic argument into a thread with no regard for others. Tell me, how does a badge recognising member's efforts to help out people over the years tie in with "the death of JA2"?

If there really is a threat to JA2, why not get together with Majek and the 4 other "real fans" and start a topic instead of hijacking other peoples contributions. For JA fans who feel so strongly about it you don't seem to have any other game plan apart from whining and interfering.

It's ironic that members who have special badges are the ones who started with spamming comments about ludicrous titles. But whenever i post something i get blamed for everything just because it's sarcastic negative comment or even truth.

and as for that other thing. It never occurred to you that they haven't been part of that discussion before, being new members and all.

Couldn't resist a few mins before the weekend offline. Is there I wonder a direct link between the season and flaming. This site being mostly Northern Hemishphere as the temperature rises so do the frayed tempers? Just a curiosity.

I think some people don't understand the meaning of the word "optional". Everything and I mean everything that has been added in recently, comes with the "option" of either using it or turning it off. It's as simple as that. There is a few "features" that did not interest me at all, and I probably will never use them, but that's what optional means. Just because I don't like something, I have no problem with it being there for the enjoyment of someone who does. So berating and saying things like everything has compromised the integrity of 1.13 is absurd. And uncalled for. Now if everything that was recently added in had no option of being able to turn it off then spouting off and being pissed off is justified. But in this case it is not justified. It's a case of only stirring up bullshit, which a few of the members here are very good at. So it's best to just ignore it, because most of the people here have the common sense enough to know the difference.

First off, I specifically asked everyone who wants to debate the nominations to use PMs. Strike 1.
Second, using an admin annoucement to launch flamebait is one of the most stupid ideas you had. Strike 2.
Third, when a moderator (heck there were actually 3 of them) tells you to stop it, you take it to PM, complain to admin, but stop it. Strike 3.

3/3. For the first time in 8 years, Majek wins the 1 month ban award. Should be some kind of record, to be this good at being an ass.

For sticking his nose into a smelly pile, scorpion... wait sorry, Native Elder, gets a well deserved rest of 2 weeks.
LATER EDIT: Native decided to piss the wrong way, adding some not-funny details to his profile. Ban extended to 2 months.
