At the risk of sounding moronic, is there an easy correspondance type way to learn C that anyone knows about? I 'learned' basic and fortran while awaiting discharge paperwork back in the 80's but can't say I know a bit of it now.
It came pretty easy though and if C is even remotely alike I'm sure I'd pick it up pretty quick.
Thanx.

There are tutorials on the net, I know, because I got some C++ knowledge from them.

getting hold of this code is a very good way to learn. it's a lot easier to go through someone elses code and learn how things work than actually writing something from scratch yourself (unless it's hello world). find a decent web site with some tutorials. get onto msdn online and check out the VC++ section and get trawling.

Doing is a much better way of learning than reading.

Here's a set of (free) online tutorials for your consideration. I hear they're pretty good, though I have yet to look through them myself:

http://www.iota-six.co.uk/c/default.asp

As with any language (computer or human), the trick is to have a good reference, but also to immerse yourself in the environment of the language. Read up on the syntax, but practice, practice, practice. I'd be tinkering around myself, if I actually had any time in the forseeable future.

are there going to be more HowTo's on the webby? I've done a couple of reasonably easy modifications that I'd love to share with the rest...
