its very good to see ja2 is still alive. im posting because it seems this is a 1.13 mod which is something ive been looking for for a while and if it is i have a very good snake plisken character with voices and everything (the real ones) and if the person who is making this mod is interested i could email it. i have a face too with moving mouth and blinking eyes and it'd be a shame if it went to waist...

thank you very much for that contribution

don't get me wrong, but i think you should try to find a way to make him available as an IMP or RPC for mainstream 1.13

i'm downloading and having a lok at your files. I think other MGS fans could be interested to use him in their version/ mod of 1.13

okay, currently, it would overwrite character 08, Steroid? again... maybe we should make him an IMP character?

the speeches are cool. did you cut these out of MGS games yourselves?

yeah, i made this a long time ago, straight from mgs3 (the one in the jungle). some lines are incomplete, like "my skin is punctured and liking", its always a laugh..., but u can fill it out with existing ones. the one when he is tired does not need replacement because steroids speech fits there.

ill put it in the 1.13 forum but i'd really like to see it in a mod. if you dont want to replace steroid i think you can replace worthless npcs like a bartender or such, anyway, he fits right in a russian scenario so in case you want to use it feel free to make any modifications you want to.

ps:i used a minidisc plugged into my tv set, even though it would kinda be a copyright violation, you can do that too. there are a lot of good lines you can extract from movies, series, games with the smallest amount of background noises.

i think for free mods, copyright isn't a big issue. But your hint right now was actually a very smart one.
Getting the speech samples in high quality from console games or such to create characters would be a treasure cove for voices because there are tons of game hero's out there.
you know, some time ago i was thinking about a modding idea "ja2: one man show" where you play a smaller mission with a selection of movie/ game hero IMP's

Snake Plisken would be one of such characters, the Sam fisher (splinter cell? did i write the name correctly?) lara croft for the females.... and so on

of course they'd have unique special equipment and such... fun mod idea.

such a mod would be great for 1.13.

i see where he would fit best. there's free slots, lemme see how it works out with eye mouth coordinates. it just happens to be that they are unalterable in 1.13 so you'd probably need to make changes to the faces according to the slot used if used as RPC and IMP...

what i can't do is overwrite a bartender, as the playablle characters are limited to slot 0 to 74.
IMO the best slot would be an IMP, but RPC's are thinkable too.

what do you think, any other hero's from computer games that could easily be ported to ja2 using your technique?

if it doesnt fit you can use it just as an IMP, or you can use only the sounds or face. if you use just one file i'll be thrilled Smile

for the eye coordinates they work fine with steroid but its a ***** that you cant change them... steroid aint that bad too.

places to extract sounds from... GTA (lots of dialogue) is a good one.
some fps are good too, Unreal Tournment (great taunts Razz , maybe for the bad guys Razz ) for example, if you dont make a lot of noise shooting.

i saw a great movie the other day: "Kung Pow", i think they have awsome lines, most of them very funny. i think any action/comedy movie good enough has cool speeches, you just have to think about wat type of situation the character is. sad movies suck specially because they have a lot of music. the more music they have the worst.

there's one online program, many in fact, that reproduce dialogue in a stephen-hawking's-like manner, but im sure that has been used before so it wouldnt be original... you can use it for the boss's bodygard or something Razz

ps:i was thinking and although i know a lot of people wouldn't want it, since the game takes place in russia, you could make ivan and igor hirable npcs. maybe that would make space for new characters? maybe not, i dont know much about these things, anyway, just an idea.
