Hi I'm new here so I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but I want to know how to make and add new guns into Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire is there some program or at least some tutorial somewhere for this? I'd appreciate anything, thanks!

Most of the newest stuff is in the 1.13 section. The search function will give you best results for anything else. There's also a dedicated WF forum below in the Mods section

I'm sorry, what I meant was, how do I make my OWN gun mod. There are also some new mercenaries I'd like to add if anyone has any information on how to do that too. I've got some gun graphics to use when making the new guns and I can get graphics for the mercenaries, I just don't know how to do any of this.

sorry greenr18, people sometimes tend not to really read questions.

adding new guns to ja2 wildfire is a difficult task because Wildfire 5 and 6 have crpyted exe's and thus don't support the modmaking tools for ja2

tutorials... don't know if there's still any tutorials around. The design of the pictures is one step, the implementation into a mod is another. while the first step design on what graphic tools and skills you have, the second step depends on which version of ja2 you use. I personally would advise against the use of wildfire for your mod. rather do it the other way and take elements from wildfire into better customisable version of ja2.

the most versatile way of doing it is probably the xml editor for ja2 1.13 based weapon mods.

okay, the second question i hadn't read cuz my reply was at the same time as your edit.

for the mercenaries it depends on which mercenary (which slot, to be exact) you want to replace. Mercenaries at AIM and MERC primarily require a bigface and a 48x43 face, Recruitables require an additional, the 90x100 Bface.

there is also a number of smaller face graphics that you can replace. Do you have slf-explore? it's tool with which you can have a look where which files are located.

Most of ja2's files are compressed in .slf archives. The game however, checks first if an identically named file exists in a folder with the identical name as the slf archive

if yes, it ignores what is in the .slf and uses the file in the folder first

that means if you put a file 14.sti in the folder data/"faces" (which you might have to create first) it overwrites the picture 14.sti in the faces.slf archive
you remove the file from the folder and the game uses the original files again.

so overwriting a mercenary's face follows the same logic. But you'll have to make adjustments in prof.dat because prof.dat defines the mouth and eye movement of AIM and MERC mercenaries (not recruited RPC's!)
you can edit prof.dat using Proedit

Hmm... thanks for the input but I mean you don't know of any tutorials or anything? I googled for a while a few days back and didn't find anything. Maybe there's someone who has made mods before who could help me or something? I mean all I really wanna do is add in some new guns and a few new mercenaries and be able to save what I made on a CD or something so in the future I can install it again if I get bored. Some of the guns also use calibers not in the game so I guess I'd have to make those too. Hmmmm...

see the old tutorials are mostly gone as far as i know.

however programs like weedit have very good readMe's that can serve as tutorials.

whatever is based on 1.13 i usually also quite well documented.

and the best source is to have a look at existing mods what they do and then backwards-engineer them, i think that's the fasted method.

and then there's a lot of people around here who know, if you contact them, directly or through threads, they might be glad to pass on some knowledge as well.
