Hello,

I am probaly 1/4 way thru game, everyone I have is learning explosives with all those mines and booby traps. (Except MD as he is 0 - Zero)

Yet, Sarge has not learned 1 thing. Spooky has risen all the way to level 7, and some of his stats are pretty high. Yet Sarge has not moved up even in Markmanship where is has killed 40+ VC.

Not one skill has moved up...

Wondering, is this a bug, bad luck, or something else...

It's quite possible, the game has flags for that sort of stuff (characters who can't learn). Len, for instance, can't learn anything in vanilla JA2. I don't remember the SOG characters, I'm afraid, but from what you describe it sounds very probable.

Sarge indeed has his "evolution" in ProEdit set to "none", just like Len. Fixing it is easy, edit it using ProEdit (\Data\binarydata). But you'll have to start a new game for it to take effect though Smile

Cool, found Proedit.exe in binary data, made the change.

The file it changed was JA25Prof.dat

I assume that is the correct one as this is JA2 UB.

Now, have started over and have to test Sarge to see if works. Just found him again...

I seem to recall that was the original intention, that Sarge wouldn't learn new skills, like he was an old dog unable to learn new tricks.

That may well be, but I find it kind of dumb. Even an old dog will learn, even if by just doing.

You cannot tell me if you threw 100 Grenades :bomb: a day, that you wouldn't at some point have better strength, and possibly better markmanship. Although maybe not as fast as someone willing to learn.
