Hi, I just coded this for myself, but if it interests you guys I can up the sourcecode. It's an ini option for being able to recruit Miguel & Carlos immediately after you finish the priest quest. Here is a link for an EXE I compiled :

It's based on the latest SVN code , you just need to add the line FASTER_REBELS = TRUE to [Recruitment Settings] (Right below the SLAY_STAYS_FOREVER option). Worked fine with a existing save game.

Wow. Why that option is not in svn already? It would by cool if i can recruit miguel and carlos after 1-3 cities.

Lol. If u can chosse 1 milion on start or like 100 Ap + for u merc then why u cant chosse in what progress u can join to team good mercs. After grum Carlos is useles. And for what i need Miguel if i only need train militia in Meduna?


And BTW. Miguel should by head of army of rebels right? So he should by in every big battle specialy with militia.

I mean that if u get Miguel & Carlos when 1-3 cities are free then this is not cheat like 'nuke meduna on day three' or 1 Milnion on start.

i have no prob with earlier rebells (in fact in my mod you get them earlier) - but two mercs for free with dimitri is worth more than a million, especially with ham and skill-related militia (miguel just pops out dark-blues) and if you play with ham-facilities fully turned on it'S probably better than 2 million

If u turn it on, if u can train dark-blue if u TURN IT! If i don't then i wont get any of this. When i customize my Ja2_Options.ini i can ballance my game. I like play on Insane and make game challenge. But now i have only Meduna and Chitzena to free and going for Miguel & Carlos is waste of time and mercs.

Personally, I'd like this to be an option. Not because I'd use it every time, but because I'd definitely use it now and then. Maybe I want to have Miguel throughout the game but leave Ira, Dmitri, and Carlos. Maybe I want to hear Miguel's or Carlos's commentary instead of Ira's when I enter early town sectors. Maybe I want to start with no money. There are lots of reasons.

that won't happen - dimitri has no drassen-files, carlos and miguel lack even more

I would like this feature to be added to SVN. When I play JA then I usually play slowly and by the time I could get Carlos and Miguel they are almost useless because I already have much better Mercs.

The only change that I would like to see is that you need to free another city before they join.

This way you could hire:

Ira - right from the start
Dimitri - after priest quest
Carlos and Miguel - after 2 cities have been liberated

I was looking for such an editor some time ago and couldn't find one. Only IMP editors or save game editors were available. After another search today I found a location and it was even in this forum! Very Happy

rick, sorry bro, but how do you activate the faster rebel thingy again?

i downloaded the exe file but what happened was a runtime error.

anyway, i am using SCI HAM3.6 + WF + AIM from goc_man.

Will there be any compatibility issues?

hey logisteric, both npcedit and npc file don't work on my windows..

it says i am missing some ocx files or something..

i guess i can only wait for rick to show me how to use his files in the svn..

that may come from microfuck's tendency to play with filenames -> get rid of the '_' to solve that

edith: had a look - just delete the '_' at the end

cheers logisteric.. i removed the quotes around the filename and it is working right now on my mac.. transferring the npc57 and npc58 to c:\jaggedalliance2\data-hamstomp\NPCdata and starting a new game on novice and 3 IMP..

if it works i will report back..

Ok Logisteric.. I just found out one problem..

I am using Gocman's Single Click Installers STOMP + HAM + WF + AIM

I was using the 4th download. Which is STOMP + HAM 3.5 + WF(maps only) + AIM. The exe file is JA2_1.13_STOMP1.0ALPHA_HAM3.5_COVER_PATCHED.exe"

However I discovered that in the NPCdata folder in the data-hamstomp directory, the NPCs run from 085 onwards.

In otherwords, theNPC data for 001 to 084 are missing and data-hamstomp directory is the directory to be used when playing Goc-man's hamstomp exe.

Did I do anything wrong? SHould I place the NPC files in other directories?

they don't - all what you do not see in that folder is taken from 'data_1.13/npc_data' -> 'data/npc_data' -> 'data/npc_data.slf' (in this order) => just throw 'em in

Hey logisteric.. i put the two npc files in that npcdata folder in hamstomp..

captured drassen and ormerta and still can't recruit miguel nor carlos..


is the patch for only 2 or 3 cities?
