Playing the beta...

Whats this "External Attachment 2" slot? I see that the Trigger Group fits in external slot 1, but I'm curious what the second slot is for. I haven't come across anything yet that will fit there.

Also, the beta is kind of buggy with BR not selling a lot of things like first aid kits and whatnot. I searched and learned how to edit the items.xml file to put those back in. I've just plowed ahead and just had a medic around with a full medical kit. I rarely get my mercs shot anyways right now, although I'm starting to come up against troops heavy weapons and the anti-material sniper rifles now so thats probably going to change.

Tony's inventory truly sucks. I've captured 3 cities and he hasn't offered one thing I wanted to buy.

I like how you can inspect your militia now. I was rather surprised to see some of my troops carrying KSVK and mortars. Thats definately new now. I play with drop all items set on, and I just leave most of the loaded weapons laying around. I'll move a merc to somewhere in the center of the map, use the sector inventory page to pick up and drop weapons to move them away from the fringes and leave them for militia to pick them up. The messages are cool too ... "Militia picked up Kevlar Helmet"

I've experienced a couple CTD's when entering the tactical screen. Generally this has happened when I dropped from the heli and zoomed to tactical. It also persisted through reloading the save game but I found a workaround by dropping them off, moving on the ground from the strategic screen, and then I was able to go to tactical (and it apparently corrected the save file as well). Oh well, remember how it always used to crash when the enemy launched a LAW or something? Lol at least thats been fixed I think.

One time, all my attachment slots freaked out and lost their symbols, like the grenade slots and stuff were just blank boxes, also when this happened, picking up something from sector inventory wouldn't show that you can stack X more items in pocket Y. Quicksaving and reloading didn't fix this, but quitting and restarting the whole game, then reloading the save did fix it.

Last comment, dual monitor support is terrible. I'm used to using my mouse to pan around by moving it to the screen edges, but when I have monitor #2 active, my mouse just travels over to the other screen. My workaround is to go to windows settings and turn off the second monitor when I'm playing JA2, but it would be nice if it just handled it without having to do that.

Otherwise, thumbs up! Even with the beta's bugs, I haven't found any real show-stoppers, just minor stuff. So what fits in External Attachment Slot #2?

SHIFT+M in tactical does this for all items, should speed things up a little.

It actually works around half of the time for me ... the cursor keys can be used when it doesn't.

Maybe it's just an inactive storage slot?
(If not, there should be such a feature. Wink )

"External Attachment 2" was originally put into the xml files as a guide to show modders one small part of the NAS capabilities. It's not really needed and I'll talk with Starwalker about removing it for the release.
