 Ok, I downloaded and installed Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 and tried to start it up, but it crashes with the following error message:

File: .\sgp.cpp
Line: 735
Location: InitializeStandardGamingPlatform

Initializing Virtual File System failed

What seems to be the problem? Can anyone help?

I have windows 7 64-bit if that info helps.

 Welcome to the Pit Jouni , it seems your install has gone wrong , can you lay out step by step what you did ?
It's quite important not to put your JA install into Program files folder , so set up another folder and install into there .

 Ok, I installed Ja-2 and then 1.13 and I got it to work, no problems so far. Thanks for the help.

I'm having the same problem with the same error code. Only I installed my files onto my desktop on a seperate file then tried installing 1.13 to the same spot and got the same message. Can anyone help me figure this out. I've never had a problem with modding and I feel retarted but if someone could take the time and help and post step by step directions with links and everything on how to install 1.13 sucessfully that'd be great. I have JA2 Gold from an online thing I downloaded it from

I'm having this problem as well.

Installed JA2 gold to C:/games/JA2
Run game...runs fine.
Installed 4870 to the game.
Can't run game.
Install patch.
Still can't run.

Tried from scratch w/o running 1.12 1st. Same result.

Running Win 7 32bit Home.

Help please?

 Propably a very dumb question, but are you using the exe that came with 4870? The old one won't work.

Well, yes and no. I was using the desktop shortcut, which points to the appropriate exe. Your question prompted me to go into the folder and use the exe directly. And that seems to work.

Weirdness abounds.
