Thanks for your kind words b15h09 Smile

As for BiA, I'm looking forward to playing it. The tactical environment and PnG system are primed for some fun tactical play, at least from what I have gathered watching the latest preview vids and what Koda has shared with us. Sure, there have been many disappointing revelations made, but that doesn't mean that the overall game experience will be bad. The one thing I feel negative about is the lack of FoW, I want a fair fight and without FoW it'll feel like cheating. But maybe the AI will be top notch and the difficulty level hard, canceling that advantage out. So I'm looking forward to playing the demo when it isn't released.

bC's hint on the demo:

"Ah you wanted to know a week or something... uhm well I'd guess IF there was some kind of demo it would be ready by now and if it was going to be released I'd speculate for the first week of February. Of course, just speculating, you know... "

So, Feb 1st ish is a pretty safe bet on when we'll get our hands on the demo.

Looking forward to playing it as well. They've made no bones about nerfing the economic/strategic/rpg aspects of the original. Hopefully they can deliver the meat 'n taters. Tactical combat (and some gun porn). Praying it doesn't turn into a "shoot at that closest dude, draw him and his buddies into your meat grinder setup, move a little closer, rinse and repeat" type monotony.

Anyhoo, even if it's fail, it just gives me more time to play around with 7.62 BSM. Have a feeling it's going to suck me in like Mount and Blade did (just captured the army base, but decided to restart when I found the ini file and a class system option).

@Koda:

Modding. Supported or not. Base data folders, encrypted or not.

No modding support, but according to BC on their forums it seems they won't take any action against modding. But I'm no legal guy and have no right to decide anything in this regards. This means you'll have to dig through this using the dark side of the force. Can't help with any decryption of the proprietary formats, sorry. That's against my contract.
I already explained why I joined now, I had holidays... no other reason.
Regarding demo: You know that I can't do anything like that. Just be a bit patient, "if" there were a demo it'd be released quite soon. And no, I don't know the date.

The force is strong in this one, and I have contacts that are very capable when it comes to circumventing encryption. But should they fail, I wont pester you with requests, wouldn't be right if you got axed :axe: . And I think the bC guys will be easier to convince since I still believe there is a strong economic incentive to help the community with this.

Here's an idea - they can just sell a regular version until sales die down. That should take about a month or two (at most).
Then they can release a "Collectors" edition that is moddable. Money talks.

I'm not so sure turn based games are dead. There's only one pc game that I have bought in the past few year for full retail price right when it was released. It requires steam and works on my mac too. Civ 5. When I was a kid, my little brothers and I would take 3-4 hour turns and play Civ 1 all day long in the summer.

There's something about games like that (JA2 / Civ1) - you play them in your head (imagination) more than on the screen.
