@Arulcish Lion,

I am on the point of winning the last sector for the second time.
I have opened every chest and desk.
But I have only two mortar shells again,
one in sector E 5/34 (ca. 50 %!) and the other in sector B 4/3.
I made every sector in order to find more mortar shells.
but in vain.

You should change this IMO in a patch!

I have beside this two laws, one out of a chest and the
other after a fight.

Yes, it was $400 per tree, but now it's $500. Moreover, in my opinion now it's possible to find more money in the sectors.

Started a new game with 'alternate'story as I read that Bobby Ray should be available. 56 sectors in my hands and still haven't found a way to get to BR. Been on the AIM website and tried the BR-link there. Has any body managed to contact BR?

I think - yes.

Our modification uses original JA2 map format.

But It won't be comfortable, because you won't see correct names of items.

I've checked this option five minutes ago - everything works as it might work.

How did Ivan die?

This option prevents mercs from the death from bullets or explosions, but they can die if they lose too much blood, they can drown or be killed by a knife. Mustard gas also kills them.

thank you for your quick answer.

I tried to prove this option and Ivan was hit through bullets over some rounds and
I waited what happens.
I think he lost blood over this rounds.
What shall I do to prevent this. The merc ever loses blood by shots. Should I heal him?
How does this option works? Prevent deadshot by one shot?

I began this game with mercs like Speck, only Ivan as better merc because I thought that
this option prevents from dead.

How does this option works? Prevent deadshot by one shot?
Yes, this option prevents mercs from the death in the moment of the receiving a deadshot and gives you an opportunity to dress their injuries and hill them. But you should do it rather fast.

Dying mercs lose their health point after point like they lose dexterity or wisdom points after critical hits.

It's better to aid them as fast as possible. Now we have more doctors in the mode, so healing might be not very difficult.

And I am pleased that you are moving and a new patch is released.

A question:
I'm able to get Boss after winning 28 or D 9 (laboratory), after 9 sectors.
I ever try to recruit the better mercs at any time in this mod. But so early now.
You have changed this or this is an error of mine, isn't it?
In any case I'm happy.

Another question:
You have changed some maps but not the sectors b1-b3 or c1-c3.
There is a sector where I am placed with my mercs at a small
spot beside a wall and one small, small opening in it,
occupied by the enemy, with mines layed out ( ? ),
perhaps C 3?
Very, very hard job even in NOVICE. I have to heal my mercs over more than one day.
In one game Jack dismissed me.
No change?! P. E.:At this time in the game I wish to
have more mercs than 12!

We didn't change this in last patches. Hiring mercs is connected with the game progress. It's not related to capturing current sectors, but (as I'm right) with a number of sectors, quests complete and enemies killed. I think it might be about 10 sectors per one level of hiring mercs, but I'm not sure.

Yes, it isn't easy. Maybe there where changes, but they didn't make it easier.
We won't change sectors heavily, cause we like them to be like in JA1.

Jack can dismiss you if the temp of the war is too low, or the results are awful.

I've seen now that it becomes some better:
Ivan has thrown a grenade and he hit the enemy at the point.
This will made C 3 some easier because Ivan and others have thrown till
vers. 0,45 like children in nursery school. Only mercs with skill THROWING
had been better.

I only fight during the night, after the first 15 sectors with 11 mercs.
Only one is behind the frontlines, training guards.
If there is somebody to heal or something to repair, they do it during the day.
And I save very often.
By now, during repairing, there happens an attack in sector D 9 with 22 enemies.
Because of saving I load the save before and awaited the attack with my mercs
and won the fight.
Without this I lost this sector.

Perhaps you understand now:

I loved the hand grenade RGD-5 in vers. 0.45 and former versions, but not that in vers. 0.50
(range of action and effect: p.e. enemies behind bushes after bridges with the "old" RGD-5; but now you can forget it.)
It is possible that you only changed the picture, isn't it?


The attacks? I counted three or four attacks after winning one sector during my pause for repairing or healing the mercs. I had known this circumstance in former versions after winning D 9
p.e..

Everybody can do what he want.
"Blitzkrieg" I ever fight to win the spring. But then...
There are sectors later you cannot fight "Blitzkrieg"
since the first versions of METAVIRA.
You don't need such remedy. To many fights with militia is
nervous. It takes a long time!!!

How long did you repair things and heal mercs?


Half a night and a whole day because my parties attacks
ever together.
And surprising:
It happened some times that I wait for an own attack at
ca. 21:00 Uhr and a short time before there was an enemy attack
and I could not attack in this night because of the time was
over to enter the sector. That's new IMO.

Nowadays and ever, it's a principle because I don't like
slaughter: NOVICE.
If the modder recommends another level then this level.
So I have played sometimes INSANE because I would like to
play every Ja2-mod.
If the modder looks after his mod then I use to play every
version as a regard to his work. But voluntary ever NOVICE.

@Fan That's good. Cause I think we should make more difficulty only playing on hard (or expert - I always forget how exactly it's called in English) and sometimes - on medium (experienced)

But, playing on novice shouldn't become more difficult. So I'll tell our coders about this.

nice to you, thank you, but I think I'm not the standard.
Only a very old fan of Ja2 since the very beginning (1.0):
You must have one harddisk named C and a CD-reader named D.
So I gave up my second partition for Ja2.

@Fan I've asked our team leader about these changes.
He says that the only change is the weight of the grenade. It was 300g but now it's 400g. As a result you can't through it as far as before.

All other things are the same. I mean strategy movements and enemy strategic activity.

But not this: RGD-5! My impression is that my mercs throw this grenade very short.
300 : 400 g: You know that this is 33 1/3 % more?
If you can throw with 300 g 10 m, you now throw 400 g only 10 m minus 1/3 of 10m: 6,66 m!
3,33 m less!
That's not mathematic, only counting.
Now I know why my mercs throw so short distance.
100 g seems to be only a little, but the calculation shows the result!!!

I have to dress my first merc with the assault vest with it's few pockets to find out
the position of the enemie cowardly hidden behind bushes after small bridges.

That sounds right. This vest is for this purpose. In original JA1 it was without any pockets but in DG some pockets were added.

I have a few questions:

- Is it intentionally that when guards fight bandits no loot is left behind?
- Where can I see weapons stats (like damage)? It's really hard to decide which weapon to take without knowing any details
- Is there a chance that the missing voices will come? Or is this due to a technical restriction?
- Is the alternatve story (with Robby Ray's weapons) already working?
- I had a bug where brenda went missing (no, she is not in the small house at her the laboratory Sad ) and I wanted to try to cheat. But cheats don't seem to work in this mod?

Yes.
JA1 was interesting in many different aspects. The lack of good items was one of them. In JA1 you had very few really good items for your soldiers. Every good pistol was like a Christmas present. We tried to copy it in our mod. It also makes our mod different from others - where you have great guns and good items from the very beginning. During the test we discovered, that after battles between guards and bandits player often receives items better, then you have. Good guns, ammo, armour... We've decided that it breaks the game balance.

In JA1 you couldn't seen the stats. We think that many visible stats make the game worse, especially if you have a lot of items. For example, 10 variants of AK-47. Which is better? You study 20 parameters of each of them and try to select. It's a wast of your time.

So, the official answer is: you do not need them, you just need to know which gun is better.
If you do not use "tons of guns" it's rather simple. Colt is better then SW. Beretta is better then Colt...
With tons of guns it's a bit harder. Usually, later your receive the gun - then better it is.

Unofficial answer: If you really want this you can open ttx.txt file with the exel or any other program. I use LibreOffice Calc.

Who's voices? Have you downloaded the sound files for mercs, Jack and Brenda from the topic with the information?

I see what you are trying to accomplish, makes sense. I picked tons of guns, I guess that's what made it complicated.

Voices
Some mercs don't have voices, most annoying is that all IMP voices are missing. I installed all additional files and patches you are offering.

Brenda lost in action

Savegame earliest to the event described, she is already missing. If you check the event log on the laptop you will see she was kidnapped and rescued.

Would still be great if I could rescue my game, I went for the last sector but it's too hard. And I can't spend more time gridning as the trees will die.


Cheat Codes
I wonder why Cheat Codes don't work? Would have helped me out to at least finish the game although Brenda is lost.

As I remember, with "tons of guns" there would be pares of guns with very close damage and range, but with different pictures, descriptions, ammo types and some other parameters which are not so important.

You want to say that IMP characters and mercs who were in JA2 (Grunty, Fox, Malice, Buzz, Ice...) have no voices.

I think, it's not a problem of the modificitation - it's a problem of the installation. How did you install the game? I mean JA2, not the mod. Do you use English version of JA2, or German? Or smth else?
Do you have disk version& How many disks there are in it? Or you've downloaded JA2 from the internet?
The modification should use existing file SPEECH.SLF. But you could install the game without this file or it may be placed somewhere where the mod can't see it.
