First things first.
My thanks and appreciation to the modders and anyone else that made a great game almost perfect.
It seems that whatever game I play I always come back to this one for more. I am half way through the idk what game and I was wondering if another stable release is planned ....

I don't think that we will have another so called "stable" release. It's just too much hassle to care for two separate branches of the code for a long period of time. The development branch is pretty much stable and gets the latest features and fixes. Depri does a good job in providing the SCIs that are easy to install for those that don't want to use SVN.
Modders can always say that their mod is compatible with version x if they don't have the time to keep their mod up to date but at some point they should update it because the players want to use the newest features.

IMO:
Many of the SCI's are more stable than the original pre-gold game by far and probably as good as gold except for the occasional hiccup with one of the new features.
