Got a weird bug on r8766. All the male characters on the tactical map have become invisible. The females show up. This doesn't apply to the NPCs.
Installed with SCI.

Wien1938 wrote on Mon, 02 March 2020 13:54Thanks man - I still couldn't find it, so I just reinstalled the SCI and reset everything.
When you are playing, above the tab for opening the laptop, there is a tab that looks like a disc. The one you went to when ending your playing or turn the volume for music down, etc. If you are there, you can also see some options, like subtitles on/off, show crows on/off, zombies on/off, etc. There you will also find the entry for the logical-bodytype on/off
How to get: latest 1.13, 7609 and more | 7609 SCI (eng) | Compiling+SVN
I need more details. (Didi Hallervorden) Report message to a moderator

Hi, new here! Fell in love with JA 2 just a week ago, and now that I've finished it I am ready to move on to 1.13. While I was at it, I wanted to play UB with 1.13.
JA2 1.13 launched and works fine. UB 1.13 launched fine, albeit with some errors about values not being set to TRUE or FALSE, so it set it to TRUE instead. After confirming my difficulty settings, all I got was a black screen with the background music still playing. Am I doing something wrong?
-Playing with GOG version
-Installed in D: drive, not in C:
-Launched using INI Editor
-Selected "JA2_8766_UB.exe" as the exe
-Selected "vfs_config.UB113" as the VFS Config
UB Vanilla also fails to even get to the main menu, even with the right VFS Config selected.
I'll appreciate any help, and please do tell me if this is the wrong place to post this. Thanks so much!

An update to this:
The "Official" 1.13 release works with UB 1.13. I can now play, but I still have a few questions:
-Why are the cinematics not playing? (e.g. no heli cinematic, skips right to crash site after selecting mercs and going to Tactical Mode for the first time). Is it because I removed the "INTRO" file? If so, does the file control all movies, and not just the SirTech splash screen?
-The VSync setting sometimes work and sometimes does not, all while in-game. Is there a solution for this?
Oh, and before I forget, I am running Windows 10. Used Straciatella to complete JA2 Vanilla. Apologies if I sound very, very greenhorned with this.
Thank you very much, and please keep safe in these trying times.

Oh wow, this is still active! I'd not touched JA2 for almost two years (I'd had a private mod project going on since 2012, nothing crazy) because it was giving me all kinds of issues. Today I learned I can use the application's Compatibility settings to automatically run in 16-bit color depth, rather than having to switch my entire system to 16-bit which seems to have been the root of all my problems!
Two quick questions, though:
1) As I made a fresh install, I noticed the XML Editor is absent from /Jagged Alliance 2/. I seem to recall it not working with SCI builds, is there an updated version perhaps? Two or three years ago I switched my mod to being built on AFS and reconfigured all my custom items to AFS' system. So there are new things compared to my old 1.13+Arulco Reloaded build, but without the XML editor to deploy them without the AFS data it's gonna be a real pain.
2) I'm getting weird laggy mouse movement when running in Windowed mode. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks in advance! I'm so happy to see there are still people actively working on JA2.

Hi there,
first of all: thank you for keeping this game alive and even improving upon it for 20 years!
I played the game back in the day and did a couple of replays over the years with 1.13. During this quarantine I thought I would do another playthrough with 1.13 and installed the latest version from this thread.
Everything runs great, but I noticed that the gear-progression is far too quick for my licking. Even in the very first sector, enemies where already equipped with submachine guns and are sporting AKs and MP5s in Drassen. At first I thought I set the item progression too high by leaving it on "normal" in the campaign setting, but I just restarted the campaign with the progression set to "very slow" and I am again running into submachine guns in the first sector. I am unable to find the corresponding setting in the *.ini files. The only setting I found was about the "coolness" of enemy gear and that was set to "0".
Am I missing something? Is there an opition that I am overlooking?
Cheers!

Ah, that explains it. Thanks you for the info. I shall try out the new balancing so! Is NCTH still being used? I was surprised for it to be set to "off" as a default.

I am unsure if I am having an issue or this is intended, but I have installed the build 8776 with the SCI onto my clean JA 2 installation and it appears that many of the options on the start new campaign screen are missing? When I had another version of 1.13 installed on a previous machine I recall there being options for the new interrupt system, new chance to hit system, and how much the enemies drop. Are these options located somewhere else now? Or perhaps I have installed incorrectly?

Hi everyone,
really good job keeping this thing alive.
Is a multiplayer still a thing though? I wanted to play with my bro and hosting is OK but if joining screen turns black except input fields.
Tried older version from 2008 and it worked but crashes a lot.
