Something just happened that I haven't seen before - is it a bug, or normal mod (but odd) behaviour?
In a very slow-paced game, Sparky was hanging out with Spider in Grumm mine. Sparky, being MERC, doesn't have a contract to renew; I've been paying up the MERC account fairly regularly, only occasionally getting a snippy message when doing so a little late.
Now, a standard "contract renewal" box popped up for Sparky; of course there's no option to renew for a day/week/two weeks, only Dismiss and Cancel are valid ... and either of those causes Sparky to complain that "she just got started", and leaves. In game_log.log, there is an error (it's trying to play a "my contract is almost up" message for Sparky, but she doesn't have a voice file for that:

This is 1.13 v8930, and whatever the folder version is that goes with that.
Do MERCs sometimes leave (using the AIM/contract dialogue), should I be seeing if she's annoyed by anything? (There is nothing obvious, she hasn't been complaining about anything.) Or is something just broken that's causing her to try to renew a nonexistent contract?

AIM mercs leave only when their contract is complete. Wether they will be rehired again, it depends on you. Depending on your actions such as if too many mercs died while under your command, if you have killed civilians, back in vanilla, the rebel mercs would complain if you didn't treat injured militia and let them bleed to death instead, stuff like that. MERC mercs however....they might just up and leave if they get annoyed or remain unpaid (past due) 2-3 times. Be careful to keep them paid at a regular rate. Don't wait until they reach only a few hours before contract completion. Avoid hiring mercs that dislike each other, there are a couple of tricks to balance this out. You'll have to experiment and see who's who and how to keep them away from each other. If you want detailed info on this, let me know.

Thank you, Gopas. This is a MERC merc, and I've never had one leave - I guess I'm just that great as an employer.
But I was surprised at how clunky the departure was - I would have expected something like "Yeah, you stink, I'm leaving", but instead it used the AIM contract renewal dialogue (for MERC!), with no contracts selectable, and then Sparky complained when I couldn't renew her (and tried to trigger a voice file that doesn't exist for her). That's why I suspected it might be a bug. But just knowing that MERC mercs do leave sometimes is helpful, so thanks again!
