What a great mod! Just that old habits are hard to break. Deep in my bones was the knowledge that Meduna and it's outskirts is a bad place and that in the beginning there may be problems with money. So as the first thing I went via Balime to Alma to get me some steady income. Had I only known how many volunteering (but mostly useless) friends Deidrana has and how much money they have donated in all kinds on boxes... But I've got me a new dynamic duo: Mike and Razor soundlessly cleaning woods and swamps at night.
Sly left on the second day in the middle of a battle, it's OK, just that he took with him my only silent sniper rifle.
Still I have a little problem. When Bobby Ray sends me 4.7 ammo for HK G11, the whole box disappears when I try to reload the gun. I can do without it, but maybe there is some bigger bug behind it.

Check sector inventory, he has a nasty vest that takes pretty much nothing good.

if/when somebody tweaks this mod a bit - in sector J16 you can enter not only through the ambush zone but also from SW corner - just that you can not move, you see nobody, still the enemy sees you and starts shooting. and: enemy can spawn in the northern (higher) zone of the sector where you can not hit him or get to him. no bid deal of course: you can take prisoners or retreat, return and use automatic resolve.

News just in;

We made some further progress on DSM in the past couple of months. After a pleasant playthrough updates have been made.

The updates includes many new custom maps and various tweaks/fixes. One thing to note is that some RPC's were moved, most notably Tony and Hans are now available earlier in the game.

A new complete install package is now available, no need to add older updates. Download from here

Make a fresh Ja2 install

Extract the contents of the archive into that installation

Play DSM

(as usual, run the Ja2_r8734_68a 212bb.exe, run as administrator, run in compatibility mode (XP SP 2), reduced colors etc.

Check your installation. That's most likely caused by a problem with installation of your original JA2 (CD, Steam, GOG, whatever).

Those .slf-Libaries are part of the original JA2, so the original must be instaled in a proper way.

In Folder "Data" of your JA2-instal should be a file named "Ambient.slf".

I found the install in a separate drive. The files in the data folder is about 1GB in size. I might have copied/moved my install somewhere. Do I need to install the GOG version?

My version from Steam is 865 MB, my CD version is 863 MB - in total. So, if your Data-Folder alone is 1 GB, something might be wrong.

To play JA2v1.13 and mods for it, you'll first need the original JA2 as base.

It doesn't have to be the one from GOG. GOG and Steam are just popular examples where you can get the original JA2 nowadays.

Last I've checked, it was about 20 Euro for Steam. If you wait for some of those "cheap-sale-weekend", "Green Tuesday" or alike, you can get it for under 10 Euro (or whatever your currency is).

I'd recommend an english version since 1.13 and most mods are in english anyway.

If you already own an original JA2, better re-instal it to make sure it's working.

If you are using Windows, don't instal JA2 in any system-folders (like "Programs"- or "Windows"-Folder), that's causing problems. Choose a neutral place, for example something like "C:\\Games\JA2".

Heh thanks for the reply man. Of course I bought the game happy I'm not going to pirate something that game me so many hours of memories/awesome times!!
I'll dl the GOG version and reinstall it.
I will do what you suggest and report back.

Updated links on first page for current/latest download. No more patches, just grab a fresh JA2 installation, then copy DSM mod files over the top from it's archive file.

installed steam version.
copied contents to separate folder F:\Games\Jagged Alliance 2 Deidrana Side Mod
copied over the mod.
game starts normally, (but message says something about safe house in p1 sector, but I am not transferred there. I start in Omerta where elites hand over my arse to me on Novice difficulty). Is it suppose to be like that?

UPD. somehow i transferred to p1. enemies still tough.

upd 2 the mod is cute, I wanted to play on Deidrana side long time ago.
Advice: In ORTA, underfloor level do not recruit scientist Ernest before he opens door. Is it possible to give him keys from the storage if new player accidentally hires him? IIRC in Vanilla it is impossible to open this door.


is it bug or feature with lbe?
sometimes it is better not to wear it. TT Assault west have only 2 small pockets

(One other thing - game lagging, tried to play this mod and Arulco folding stock mod with all dlls copied, affinity of the processor set to 1, colors reduced, compat to xp sp2/sp3 etc. nothing helped. any other ideas?)

I love the idea for this mod and its being a enjoyable experience to play it, funnily enough, the mod could sort of fit into the continuity by happening before JA2, as Deidranna is seizing control of the country, and thats whats going around in my head.

It's cool to play as Elliot, or the Warden, with a chaotic minded IMP merc, and a few misfits from MERC while you fight for the bad side.


Please keep it up!
