Hi,

I want ammo and LBE to be available from BR from the start, regardless of progress settings. I found the item names in items.xml. Do I only need to set their coolness to 1?

Example for black modular vest:

> <ubCoolness>8</ubCoolness>

Do I only need to set that to 1?

Concerns revision 9141.

Hi happy

I'm not an expert. I think it has something to do with
- <BR_NewInventory>
- <BigGunList> (0 for "reduced", 1 for "tons of guns", these are options when starting a new game)

If the item already has BR_NewInventory, then i think coolness=1 should be enough.

more specifically, using the CAWS AP box as an example: it has the following entries:

<ubCoolness>7</ubCoolness>
[...]
<BR_NewInventory>2</BR_NewInventory>

So, what's the number 2 in BR_NewInventory? What do I need to set it to? And is coolness zero a thing, or is 1 the lowest?

Valid from 1-10. The lower, the earlier the item will appear.
I just realized: this affects loot tables, so you should limit it to LBE. LBE being cheap it can be ordered from BR, if enemies don't drop due to <coolness> changes.

<BR_NewInventory>
I don't know enough about it to explain it.


Simpler method: upon new game start, you could set BRs quality to 5. This makes many ammo types and most (if not all) LBE available...except those that were set as "not buyable through BRs", but those are few.

Okay, thanks. I'm still hoping someone else reads this and chimes in, because I'm reluctant to edit the stuff unless I know for sure what's happening.

I know about the BR quality thing and have just parked a game with 5 quality before starting one with 1. The problem there is that it's too general, and too much stuff also becomes available - by the time I got the drassen SAM (or only shortly after) I could buy NVG IV, and it takes a better man than me not to buy the stuff when it's there...

Took a quick glance at how the tags are used:

<Coolness> can be lowered to introduce items earlier in the campaign. Don't set this to 0, though, or else shopkeepers won't sell it at all. As Mai Ti Miao mentioned, changing this also affects other things. It should be pretty safe to lower this just for LBE.
<BR_NewInventory> and <BR_UsedInventory> are used to determine if an item can appear in Bobby Ray's new and/or used inventory. Their values influence the quantity of the items that can be in stock.

If i understand your questions correctly and without getting into technical stuff, here's my 2 cents...

When starting a new game, select new gear, tons of guns and set Bobby Ray's settings to 10, both settings. During the game, hold CTRL and type GABBI to activate cheats. On a merc's inventory, make sure both hands are empty and use ALT+W of Alt+Shift+W, to run forwards and backwards in all game items. That way you can see what can be available and maybe resort to use a couple of items before getting to Drassen and activating Bobby Ray's. Personally, i get a PSG-1, it comes with a 7x scope, i steal a 10x scope, a bipod and some 7.62x51 match ammo. I play on Insane mode, so a little edge is a must have happy
