During my games, i took much attention in the stats of my mercs, prefering high wisdom, agi and so on, and came to have prefered mercs for their stats. But then playing them, of course their temper worked in the seduction process, but there was something else...
I realised that some of them were kind of "lazy", loosing their energy very fast, and in the end sleeping more than working, while others were very effective, always redy for battle, and with much more energy when arriving on a battlefield.
That's how i came to appreciate Razor a lot, while i hated Gasket, taking days to repair that damn gun, while sleeping most of the time.
I really questionned myself why and how their behavior was so different. I thought it was night ops perk one day, high health the day after, widom another day... But in the end i did not find it, though it was of major interest to me.

Having a look at the files of 1.13 mod, i found proedit, and had a look at it.
I found a very interesting entry: "need for sleep"
And guess what? Those with a low score in that stat didn't need much sleep compared to the others.

All that to say that in quest of the most performant merc, some should consider the need for sleep, often ignored.

Now i know why Razor is one of my best mercs, with 3 in need for sleep, this bad boy is always ready to slice their throat!

Yes well, Razor has the lowest "need for sleep" stat, can't find anyone else with 3. The IMP is also quite 'awake'. But I don't let that stat influence who is on my team.
As for sleepy Gasket, he's strictly my backup mechanic, I don't take him anywhere other then Cambria where he can repair the huge stockpile of weapons and other items.

Need for sleep is a huge consideration for me. Some mercs I completely ignore because they spend so much time either sleeping or useless on the balltefield because they get so few APs.

I'm really glad this is a feature of the game and it definately influences who I use. I find the number of APs a merc has each turn is a very important factor so much so that I usually leave 5 or even 6 unused APs at the end of their turn so they get a full set next turn.

Besides forgetfullness, Dimitri's high need for sleep is the biggest blemish on an otherwise very cool character. In spite of this, I always use him. At least until he forgets himself in the middle of a crossfire and gets wasted.

Sad The need for sleep system is quite awkward. The benefit of sleeping the last minute of an hour is the same as for sleeping the whole hour. So when you move at roads 1:29 per piece you can sleep after two pieces and save a whole hour of rest on arrival for a slowdown of two minutes.

Furthermore you can abuse the sleep system for it counts the hour of sleep before being back on the job as active. So with full energy you work an hour, sleep an hour and be back on the job, work again, ... The merc does an assignment all the time without getting woozy.

Finally the need for sleep should not be hidden in the game.

Is some of these issues on the todo list of 1.13? A revision of the system would be great. The mod is great anyways! Very Happy

\Edit: Whoops, wrong place to put this post.

You can also choose to not abuse this "bug". Makes for a funnier game, eh?

The highest need for sleep is 12 hours (Stoned Larry) That's exactly what happens when you drink booze like a crazy, forgetful and drugged person, don't cha' think? Wink

I don't have Pro Edit or the 1.13 version yet, still on vanilla 1.12. Is there a resource on the web that lists the need for sleep or would anyone care to post the mercs with their sleep stats?

I must say I break down merc stats quite a bit to decide who goes on the team. Stats and characteristics high on the list of desirable for me; besides the skill set of individual are: APs, healing, repair, militia and mercs that are funny and have good personalities. Now I'll include the "need for sleep" factor.
