Hey, I've decided to give JA2 yet another spin on my computer, this time with that new 1.13 mod that seems nice.
However my screen is widescreen and stretches the 640x480 resolution to fill the entire screen. I've tried to fiddle with the Nvidia Flat Panel controls and selected the mode that puts black bars in the sides thus maintaining the correct aspect ratio, but it doesn't work. Do any of you guys have any solution to this problem or do I just learn to love the stretched image?

There are some choices you can do:
- Higher screen resolution of the game (see ja2.ini)
- Love the stretched image
- Desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Display -> Panel -> Disable scale image to panel size. I always play in this mode. It works on my laptop. [/QB] Thank you! Don't know if it's because I just changed my monitor to a different (also widescreen) one, but when I followed your steps it worked!
FYI: The screen I couldn't get it to work was a Viewsonic 2025WM

I Have same problem. I have 21" wide screen monitor and NVidia 7900GTX card. i set Disable scale image to panel size, but it still doesn't work correctly. Fun part is, that on my laptop with 7300GT card and 15" wide it works fine...

Maybe a 4:3 dual monitor setup is better to work with in the office...but in the home WS is the bomb. I could never watch a dvd, for example on a non-ws display. And the FOV in games makes all the difference, IMHO.
But anyways sorry to bump an old thread but I am still holding out hope that the more popular the ws resolutions get, there will be more interest in coming out with JA2 "widescreen." I just picked up a ws laptop and would love JA2 taking up the full screen, instead of a small square.

This topic is old but it's the first that comes up when I try to google the problem. My old square monitor died on me and my new wide screen is a 1920x1080 Samsung Syncmaster B2330 (there are literally no square monitors to be be found at Best Buy...) I don't have a "panel" option in my standard display properties I have to go through the NVIDIA control panel and the option for scaling won't show up unless you lower the resolution below native and after you change it the options won't show up anymore. I had to go ahead and install new drivers to return to the status quo. There's no other way to access panel settings through the interface. My monitor is dispalyed but it's not clickable like the help/instructions for the control panel claims.
Anyway, there were several options displayed when I finally figure out how to get them to show up. I tried to flat out disable scaling and while it works for the desktop it won't carry the desktop resolution over in game. For instance If I set it at 1280x1024 The game isnt' displayed at 1280x1024 with the black bars. It always displays at the game's base resolution with regards to my monitor. Which means the game window is roughly the size of a Nintendo DS screen. Makes the picture look very sharp but I'll be as blind as Moleman from the Simpsons playing the game that way.
The other options were Nvidia Scaling and Nvidia Scaling with enforced aspect ratio, is that what I'm looking for? I'm not sure what to try next as it's a pain in the rear end to go through the goose chase of installing and uninstalling drivers just to get access to a menu option since this monitor's "magic window" drivers throw a fit if there are no video card drivers. Is windowed mode doable and modifiable? Meaning can I make the window 1280x1024 on my desktop?
