Has anyone noticed that when you attaack a sector and retreat and return again straight away that the enemy repositions at guard posts and other important areas? There is no respawn but they have brains enough to try to defend the sector when they are low in numbers.

I don't think its brains so as way the enemy is placed on the maps. You can mark a soldier placement as "priority" and the game will try to fill those slots first. Take a few minutes and play with editor if you get a chance.

Yeah thanks. I don't actually think it's intelligence just good programming. I'm gonna have a go at the Map Editor soon enough.

Small spoiler:

This is how you can manage to get several Val Sniper rifles early on. The first outpost you come across before hitting the town has one enemy on the roof of the SW building. He carries a Val and goggles and spectra armor.

Enter the sector and take him out, grab the goodies (I do it stealthy at night and they never know I was there, not sure you have to). Then exit, and re-enter and take him, and only him, out again. Rinse and repeat for as many Vals as you like - since its apparently a priority position, the AI always replaces that enemy merc on the roof with the goods.

A team of 6 with Vals is deadly -- Dr. Q, Spider, IMP no/stealthy, Grunty, Wolf and Thor/Raven makes for a great NO stealthy team.

Good luck finding ammo tho Sad I usually shop at Raoul's for several days before heading south (in Bearpit1 campaign) to get some, or just use the editor and throw some on the ground :naughty:

i just saved the ammo and used guns dropped by enemies, i had no problem with it
just finished UB, started it yesterday. great game but i dont know what i would have done without my level10 imp to bail me out of certain situations. was weird that it started off frickin hard. i had to skip the 2nd sector and go directly to the guard post because there were 11 enemies there and all we (my imp and magic) had was a calico and a mac... guard post was much easier, directly jumping from crap gear to good gear doesnt seem right to me though.
i ended up giving that rifle to Manuel, i went solo with him and his marksmanship went up decently. ditched it after varrez though

Level 10 custom merc, Ghostface? There's your answer why opposition was so heavy. You get increased number of enemies when you import characters.
