Hi guys,

I recently purchased a copy to JA2 gold pack and now I am finally playing JA2UB.
However there is one thing I really do not understand, probably it is something really simple that I am missing here.
I haven't been able to find any tips on how to use the Line of sight tool or the cover option.

I searched through the different treads, but no avail. Can anyone give me a hint on how to use that feature?

thanks

I know what you mean! I have seen screenshots of this being used but I haven't actually managed to work out how this works so would be quite interest to see how this works as well. Maybe someone can shed some light?

Phew,... and there's me thinking I was the only one Smile

I did see a link somewhere on the ja galaxy that talked about strategy features, but that gave a page not found error.

Cover is the Delete key and Line Of Sight is the End key

Thanks doodleman,

I was reading through everything, but nowhere I could find it. Was this in the manual that came with UB, because the gold pack does not have a manual.

Even in the help of the game I failed to find it.

Thanks again.

In the original UB manual its on pg.51 "Advanced Tactics: The Rules of War".

The UB manual is nearly identical to the original JA2 manual. Just a few different graphics and the added sections for the new features.

I don't use LOS or Cover, myself I like to try to guess, it adds a bit more randomness to the battles wich I find much funner.

It also pops up as a tip in that annoying menu. You want to be in the green, and you want the baddies in the red :rifle:

I never use it. Also, the cover indication only depicts cover against spotted enemies and is IMO not a replacement for good tactical choices. Only thing you learn is that small rocks give you almost no cover. In the first battle of UB it is useful as your equipment is still very low tech and forest fights are hard without long-range rifles.

Best new feature for me in UB/gold is to be able to crawl backwards since this helps a lot to get out when pinned down by enemy fire. Nice feature is the possibility to spread auto fire on a broader range of targets - this gives a machine gun its real role.
