My primary intention was to warn people of installing the original 1.0 release, as there are still a few copies floating around on eBay, bargain bins and flea markets in Europe.
Most likely, the StarForce Removal Tool was patched into the 1.10 version. A few publishers were forced to deactivate SF after discovering that it was initially incompatible with Windows Vista, and incorporated the tool into subsequent patches (i.e. Codename: Panzers I & II).
The Anti-StarForce Forum is unfortunately down now, but it contained numerous reports by programmers who dissected SF and the removal tool (developed and distributed courtesy of StarForce, btw). The contention was a general mistrust towards post-install removal vs. complete omission, notably the inherent danger posed by dormant components still residing on the system. This 'install, then deactivate' process is possibly also employed in the patched 1.10 version of "The Fall".
EDIT: my apologies for side-tracking the modding discussion. As a redeeming factor, I'll mention that I bought this game when it was originally released many years ago. I enjoyed playing it at first, but stopped after running into a wall of bugs. Hopefully these issues were remedied in the latest patch. It's rumoured that the authors actually contacted someone from the original Fallout dev team for ideas and programmed a few FO references into the game as well.

Harper"The Fall - Last Days of Gaia Extended Version" - is it this one I have to buy to play bug-free? Did anyone already play through the whole game, and was it fun?
Extended, Reloaded whatever they call it. Should be patched to latest 1.10...
Looking at the walkthrough, I am not far from finishing the game now. Was fun, but a lot shorter than JA2. I haven't counted the locations, but I think there are less than in JA2 too. Maybe this was the problem. Too short and not enough randomness to add replayability. It's not a game critical problem, though. It's the storyline's fault. It pushes you too fast towards the end. The sidequests are rarely in another sector and when they are, they are pretty short.
These guys had everything they needed to make the game just like JA2, but missed the starting gun. For example, you have random attacks, especially when you sleep and you don't leave a merc as guard. But their setup is weak (a bunch of desperate enemies rush into your heavy machine gun fire to be slaughtered) and it needs to be tweaked. I read somewhere you can get attacked while travelling too, but haven't experienced that yet...
The game has the posibility to make bazillion side quests only from combinations of items. They passed on the opportunity. Overall it's a mix of great ideas and fun and a feeling of "damn it, it could've been so much more"...
