Hello guys

Quote:

Привет Whoami, только в случае, что "Терапевт" больше не устало от NightOps работы. Вероятно, имеется в будущем шанс получать английский перевод важных частей? Независимо от того, большое спасибо за твою помощь!

You do successes in Russian studying. I have noticed that people who aspire to studying, achieve success in affairs. Unfortunately I studied English language at school, therefore I ask not to beat me strongly Smile

And now - the answer to your question: translation will not be. If you wish to play "NightOps" now, I can offer you such decision:

1) You can print a sheet of paper with translation often meeting words (for example "Сил" = "STR", "Пдв" = "DEX")
2) play in "NightOps". JA2 is shooter, and for finish game it is possible without understanding of letters etc.

In letters it is told about new enemies - paratroopers, it is written about epidemic, capture of hostages by the Boss, etc. the Important letter comes after capture Drassen - from the person
"Сергей Громов" = "Sergey Gromov". Sergey - old friend of IMP and on the following 3 days he can be hired for free (Heavy+Electronics).

====================
"Отряд" = "Squad"
"Контракт" = "Contract"

"Пдв" = "DEX"
"Лов" = "AGI"
"Сил" = "STR"
"Лид" = "LDR"
"Мдр" = "WIS"
"Урв" = "LVL"
"Мтк" = "MRK"
"Взр" = "EXP"
"Мех" = "MEC"
"Мед" = "MED"
"Здоровье" = "Health"
"Дух" = "Energy"

"На службе(2)" = "On duty(2)"
"Доктор" = "Doctor"
"Пациент" = "Patient"
"Машина" = "Car"
"Ремонт" = "Repair"
"Тренинг" = "Training"
"Отмена" = "Cancel"
===================================

Please, write here words which it is necessary to translate. :dontknow2:

Night Ops English translation:

Coming soon...

If you need help - I can help you. I can translate letters on "children's English language", and you edit it into "normal English language". :ok:

Hi Whoami,

That would be great, i tried to translate the Exe, but the russian text was too complicated to figure out.

I have translated nearly everything outside of the Exe. ( Emails, Missions, Items, Guns, Speech etc...) I could help you no problem if you are offering to help with the Exe.

Greetings Off_Topic.

I can translate the text, but I can not insert it in JA2.EXE.

I offer such variant: you send me parts of the text which it is necessary to translate / or which "too complicated to figure out". I will translate the text and will send it back.

I have specified the e-mail at registration - you can safely write to me.

Patch 1.02
===================
http://www.ja2.su/NOtest/no1p02.rar

1) Jeeps do not move on water
2) The penalty is made at shooting from mortare, throwing hand grenades:
- At shooting on tile which is not visible to the marksman
- At the first shot (so-called "an adjustment shot")
3) Gangsters of the Boss can be only in sector in which is not present militia
4) If you have wounded the civilian in fight the militia will not take offence at you
5) Start of game with a key "JA2.EXE -CHEATS" activates codes "GABBI"
6) Now you can change range of sight of the Tank, changing value "RangeBonus" for "the Tank gun" in a file "TTX.TXT"
7) Small errors have been corrected

P.S. It is the version for Russian Night Ops. Therefore it is necessary to translate it into English

Hi Whoami,

Thank you for the information about the new NightOps v1.02.exe (BUILD 24.05.2009). Is a new game required to activate the new features and fixes or can I just continue my v1.01 save game?

whoami
You do successes in Russian studying.

Спасибо! East German school mate. Wink At least I can read the Cyrillic letters and words, but the understanding of the meaning is the true problem. Very Happy

Just another thought about this problem: "Is it possible to include the most important English words and shortcuts with a Hex editor?" I

Could you check/adapt the other updated files Whoami sent us please?

No worries, i'll put B2B on hold for the moment and get stuck back into N.Ops while there's a bit of momentum. I want to fine tune Gromov etc... and there are a few things i meant to do but fizzled out.

****

EDIT: I had a look at the patch, there's new Binary Data files so they will change everything back to Russian. I'll see if i can find what was changed, maybe Whoami can help there.

@ Whoami: Great news! Many thanks for the info and the email you sent me! Smile Maybe the source of NightOps can be a "source of inspiration" for our v1.13 Coders?

@ inshy: Good to see that you are still active. Did you get my two emails?

@ Off_Topic: I have a strange computer problem at the moment. I can't see any data on my PC anymore?!? I really hope I can restore the files on my hard disk including my JA2 files, modding tools and so on... Surprised

The only thing I was in luck was the "English" NightOps test EXE I've built with the Hex editor. Before the crash I sent this file to a friend in the German forum. So I could upload it to RapidShare from a foreign internet access.

Download link: http://rapidshare.com/files/245241458/ja2_En_NO_v1.2_HEX.zip

Best regards; Schein...

/EDIT: Now, where the source of NightOps is available, it could be built a "real" English NightOps EXE by someone.

Hey lads,

Great to see all this energy going into N.Ops!

@Scheinworld: There seems to be two people working on an English translation now, talk to Inshy.

That's a pain about your PC, hope it's not too bad. I'll download the Exe now, maybe we should all discuss what's been done. No point doing something twice.

Inshy told me they are translating the EDT files, but i translated 99% of them, some need a bit of attention, but overall they are fine.

If it is not started, start with WindowsPE (load from CD), copy the necessary data and reinstall Windows

- What type of file system (NTFS, FAT32, etc)

Sorry, I have absolutely no idea mate? Embarrassed

Thanks, I hope it too! It was a little bit weird, my first thought after the PC crash was the fear to lose my JA2 file collection. Crying or Very Sad I need a backup in the future! I have all information about the words I translated in the EXE with the Hex editor on my hard disk! I can write them down as soon as my computer works again (hopefully).

So, I have to leave this place (internet access) now.

Schein, take a deep breath and do anything rash, like throwing the PC out the window.

1. Does you PC still recognises the drive (check BIOS)
2. Screen comes out dark? No BIOS messages? (check video card, might be busted or dislocated)
3. Are you sure PC is powering off? No strange beeps (possible RAM fault)
4. Get a 2nd harddrive, install Windows on it, put your old drive as slave and copy the files over. Then format faulty drive and use it only for pr0n.

If your drive actually seems to be dead (did it make any consistent ticking sounds lately?) then:

try putting it into a ziplock bag (with some dessicant sachets, if you have some: the "do not eat" packets they include with electronic gear)

and then in the freezer for a couple of hours before you slave it for data recovery.

Yes, it sounds weird, but it's worth a shot. Trust me.

Hello guys,

At first many thanks for your advices and efforts regarding my computer problem! I'm relatively sure now it's a hardware failure, because I get no messages from my PC anymore, just a black and "sad" screen. I have to admit it: I'm a noob for that kind of problem. It's comparable with my car. I can use and drive it :redracer: (and without a serious accident in the last few hours :ok: ), but I can't do barely more than changing a tire.

Had a look at your Exe. Scheinworld, makes a big difference, going to replay N.Ops and Proof Read/Fine Tune anything that needs to be done.

Hopefully with Whoami, Inshy, and yourself involved we can give this great Mod the translation it deserves, and get more people playing it.

@Any Artist: I put together a very rough English Night Ops splash on the main screen to replace the Russian one, any takers?

The Sell All option can be turned on/off in the INI, you can turn Drop All off/on in the options menu.

It readies your gun, there is an option for advanced Optics in the INI, not sure if this has something to do with the "Work Optics" feature. Maybe Whoami can explain...

When you hear the sound of the chopper, you have around 15 Min (game time) to set up your defenses, you should be happy there was no attack jeeps, did you turn them on in the INI?

The Sand Bags are a cool addition, there's a whole lot more where that came from...

Make sure to adjust the INI to turn on all the new features you want to see.

I've so far go thru Omerta, then headed to San Mona. I am playing on Novice to get a feel of the game before going hardcore. I had militia turned on and boy, it felt like UC again. They fought a brave battle in Omerta (first time i had them off and wondered what the heck the sandbags on roofs were for).

I like snipers and overall damage tweaks. If feels like shooting real bullets. No more full blast to head that gives headaches. Now it kills on spot.

San Mona has had a nice rebuild, very atmospheric.

In general I am enjoying this a lot, even with Russian words here and there. You picked a fine mod to translate, I tell you.
