I got in the mood today to play UB (before replaying SOG) and man... I remembered all the frustrations I had years ago. Rock cover is so borked in UB you're better off lying in snow and praying they miss.

And CTH seems quite wierd. For example, Fox with dual Automags has the same range and seems to have a greater CTH than Raven with Mini-14. Raven herself misses all shots unless you take off her sunglasses (which seem to have a negative bonus). While redshirts manage head shots frequently, your best mercs cannot hit shite.

Actually, also in the WTH section, Bubba managed to kick arse and kill a couple with his shotgun, out of pure luck, while the "stars" just wasted ammo.

Anyway it's been years since I played UB, so I probably suck badly at it anyway, but it's freaking wierd.

It's slowly coming back to me now... I painted a big target on Bull's arse (yea, always confuse him with Bubba) and put the entire team in arc formation. He lured all of them straight into Raven's sights. Now I am flooded with rifles, one better than the other. Just farming them for fun.

You can do that by camping the LZ for a bit, 5 or so enemies will split from the main group and come looking for you. If you camp their entry point, they are sitting ducks. Bull took great pleasure in using his shotgun from 2 feet.[/color]

Actually the LZ is kind map edge so it's easy to predict. In H8 they can come from 2 directions.

in every map - on the one with betty, for ex, they always show up at the south-west corner of betty's house between those trees - just throw in half a dozen of hand grenades and knife them.

Wow, what an understatement!

I saw UB on a shelf in a games shop in Switzerland while on vacation there. I bought it immediately, thought about it the whole trip, then actually had to throw other stuff to the trash to make room in my bag for that huge box (I still have that box).

And after I got it home it was over in about three hours.

Anyway , if Shanga thinks UB is a tough start , give Legion2 a whirl , bloody LZ is a killing zone for superior armed and outnumbering my poor 4 man team . I remember last time I started this I ran away to the north and came back at night............. Very Happy

UB isn't that hard, it's my tactic that is rusty. Once I regained some of the old killer instincts (yea, I was the one who invented the "no guns" start in UC, remember?) I begun to have fun. You know the sniper with VSS Silent, at the Guard Post? Made me restart that map a couple of times, but last try he suddenly found out that he shared the roof with 5 angry mercs. Who proceeded to beat the crap out of him and steal his fancy gun.

I've so redescovered the pleasures of stealth, night-ops and knife+silencer gameplay.

PS: I still have to restart that map once again, cause:

1. My IMP died when he rushed like an idiot to pick up the VSS and got his head exposed (which reminds me - why the heck do you need to stand up to pick something??).
2. When Thor decided to revenge this friend and put some automatic .45 on the barrels where the 3 killers were bunched up (couldn't pass such a stupid AI move), the game crashed on explosion.

PS2: It was an epic WTF-Why-Didn't-I-Joined-As-Cook moment when the sniper took a couple of well aimed shots at Raven's head from 2 feet. And amazingly, even if she got like 90 damage and 2 hp left, the old gal' still smiled and stood up- at least long enough to break his kneecaps. Amazing. I'd call THAT a serious hangover headache.

The Mods for UB are epic compared to the original:

B2B: 145, Legion: 120 Sectors.

There's also Tracona Unlimited, which put 8+ mods together in one Campaign Map.

P.S. If anyone was keeping an eye out for New UB Mod Critical Edge, it's still going, just slower than Perry though it would.

Yeah , I've got this but , think I couldn't get it installed due to passwords ? There was another campaign/mod , which I couldn't access either , can't remember what it was called , anyone have any ideas ?
