UPDATE

New download version v3.

Please remember to extract all files from the archive. If upgrading from v2, you'll need at least the EXE and the FacilityTypes.XML.

New stuff:
  • Assignment Progress Bars
    • When a character is doing militia training, mobile militia training, practice, or study (but not training other mercs), a progress bar will appear behind the assignment label to show the progress towards militia recruitment or towards the next skill level.
    • This progress bar shares color with the Stat Progress Bars. It also shares the same Preferences Menu option to toggle on/off.

Bug Fixes:
  • Impossible Training
    • A calculation error caused most characters to be unable to train others. Fixed.
  • Mobile Militia Training Limits
    • The program confused a few values, making it impossible to train Town Militia in facilities that do not allow Mobile Militia training. Fixed.
  • Facility use requirements
    • An error with reading the minimum requirements for facility assignments. Fixed.
  • Uber-detection from the A.C.A
    • The A.C.A building was flagged to allow counting enemies in cities, as well as a 3-sector radius detection of enemy groups. Both were unintentional... whoopsie! Fixed.

not a BUG...but a new feature unique to HR's facilities..only sections with A.C.A or military training facilities can train militia..if you truely need to have the ability to train in all the old style place..you need to open the facilities xml and edit it by copy and pasting headings and changing to the correct sector and adding "10" for an A.C.A facility to be present..only need to do it about 35-40 times Very Happy

One way to avoid the trouble is to open FacilityTypes.XML and edit the A.C.A, increasing the ubMilitiaTrainersAllowed to as much as you want.

BTW, before someone gets there and asks - it is IMPOSSIBLE to train militia in Balime. Yes, this is INTENTIONAL. It's HAM. Use Mobiles.

Oh also, for those of you who are truly lazy: As usual HAM 3.6 Full will come with XMLs that allow playing the game in normal JA2 style. Pussies. Wink

@ Maalstroom:

Blue pants? Are you playing Wildfire? If so, know that the Wildfire palette is hacked - the developers chose to alter the actual colors as they had no way to alter the code. So in Wildfire, green pants always come out blue. I'm not sure there are any pants that come up green, god knows what they did to the palette file anyway.

If you're not using Wildfire, then something's weird, because it works fine for me!

UPDATE

Download v4 is now available.

This version brings HAM up to speed with JA2 1.13. The difference is VERY minimal, but I guess maybe it'll be less quirky? Dunno, HAM on older revisions seemed to work just fine...

Anyway, you don't really need to download this. It's just for my own convenience, really.

Hi HR, new forum member here. Love everything that has bee n done in 1.13 and your HAM Smile

Im testing the alpha now, but I have a few questions/comments:

- Is there any info anywhere on what the facilities actually do? Without some basic info on what they are supposed to do, how are we supposed to test them? From the interface and XML I can sort of figure out a tiny bit of some of them but id really request more info on this unless its allready written down somewhere (if so - link me!)

- Secondly, the pricing seems to be rather out of wack for many things... If im understanding the XML right, it is for example 700USD pr. HOUR(!) to work as a doctor at the cambria hospital, and the payoff in added performance is like +40 or 50%? Thats nearly 17.000USD to operate it a single day, and unless you have allready broken your own game exploiting bugs or "cheating" in the INI, then noone has that kind of money to just throw into healing some mercs slightly faster than normal. 700USD a DAY seems way more fair, not to mention realistic. I have no idea how youd be able to have 17K in expenses playing doctor Wink (again sorry if im just completely misreading the XML file)

- Thirdly, again if im reading this right it looks like there are actually quite severe minimum requirements to study at many facilities. It seems kind of backwards that youd have to train by practising alone (without a bonus) until you meet the requirements. If it were me, id consider maybye dropping or severely lowering requirements on the "students". Requirements for the teacher semm fair to have, even if the numbers im seeing here is perhaps a bit high. Theres a lot of 80+ requirements, so only a very few mercs will be able to pass the bar.

Just some thoughts Smile

The only info is in \Data-HAM\TableData\Map\FacilityTypes.XML . I don't have a reliable way (yet?) of letting you know the effects in-game. Of course, part of the idea is trial and error, there's plenty of feedback given by the game itself.

Quote:

I intentionally made the hospital healing very expensive, otherwise there would be no point to using the hospital's services (through Dr. Steve). However it might be a bit too high, or alternately maybe it would be better if the ubPerformance value was increased for better medical care.

Please continue contributing your opinion on this issue.

Quote:

Hmmmm well, the idea is that these facilities only provide "advanced" training, so that people with low skill levels don't shoot up from 0 to 30 over a single day just because of the performance bonus they get when training there. I agree that the limits are a bit too arbitrary, but I can't think of a better way to do this.

Quote:

For students? I think that's only a wisdom requirement... Not sure though, I'll check that out.

Does anybody else think this facility staffing might be a bit of a waste of manpower and money? Couldn't the Militia staff it for you - that is you get the same effect of a staffed facility, when there's militia in the sector?

UPDATE

Two new features will enter HAM 3.6 in the next update.

A) Civs that aren't capable of combat do not become hostile, even if you shoot them. There's really nothing they can do anyway, so setting them hostile only serves to annoy everybody, as you're suddenly forced to kill everyone in the sector even though they aren't a threat anyway. This really makes no sense. An INI setting now prevents such situations.

B) As requested by Khor, bloodcats in Static Placement sectors can now be affiliated to a faction. This means that they are NOT HOSTILE, unless you attack them (in which case you will anger any faction members who can see you) or you attack a faction member (in which case the bloodcats will come charging).

Keep your heads up for download v5.

LOL yup, otherwise I would've mentioned it by name. It's a HAM staple that new lines come at the end. Of course, sometimes INI settings are REMOVED (there are still a few redundant ones out there, and I will eventually kill them too). If you compare the new INI to a JA2 default INI you'll find more than a few differences. Fortunately, with VFS, it's now possible to distribute HAM INI files that simply don't contain those lines, so everything's easier.

I'd like to make a request:

INI setting that will prevent militia from ever turning hostile even if you shoot them openly. I know this can be an exploit (hence the ini setting) but it also prevents militia from running into tear or mustard gas and then going hostile.
