Raven sitting in front of a door in Alma. It opens, in comes a redshirt. Raven gets the interrupt at point blank range and blows his head clean off.
End Turn.
Another red shirt comes in, Raven gets the interrupt again and blows his head off too. I think about four or five came through the door. Blood all over the place, Raven's morale bar at the highest it can be.
Priceless.

5 minutes ago, I finished the game.

I opened the throne room door with Trevor (is their anydoor he can't open????). Deidranna just happens to be there with 3 gray shirts.

Unfortunately for the queen, she is standing right in front of the just opened door, in the line of fire of 2 of her precious rocket-rifle-armed-gray-shirts....

They hit her for a good 50-60 damage, so all I had to do is put two 7.62mm NATO AP bullets in her head from point blank range.....

Yesterday Dimitri was sniping from the rooftop when he got shot.
Fell headfirst off the room and splatted on the floor.
It was the first time I'd seen this, and so it made me laugh - even though I had to reload.
[I don't normaly reload, but he died because my touchpad made him stan up when I selected him]

Other highlights include the forst time I injured two badguys with one bullet.
Straight through the head of one guy - causing it to explode - and into the chest of another.

I remember something like that happening. At night a black shirt climbs up in front of my merc and blows him right off the roof. One of those very rare things.

Just imagine the following situation:

Defending Alma, about twenty blue-shirt-militia and my mercs (six at that time). In my area everything works out good, took down seven enemies. Still at the fence militia gather and get slaughtered by some black-shirts aided by some redshirts. They're far away, my troops kind a three turns away at last. Seemingly the militias are doomed to die. Cannot get worse ? It can ! One of the redshirts, standing close to some blackshirts and redshirts, pulls out a law and aims at the last group of massed militia, allready wounded.

O.K. that's it for them I think. But, hold on, the Law explodes while firing and sending most of the onslaught to hell. The rest, easy prey. Laughed my ass of.

Priceless.

I guess the moment I first realized the complexity and depth of the gameplay, was my priceless moment. I was taking a mine (Alma I think) and working out some simple fire and movement tactics.

This was my first campaign and I didn't really know how to play the game. I was getting my ass kicked by the Queen's red-shirts.

Midway through the battle I started to think about using ground cover, covering fire, etc... I applied my tactics and started gaining ground and hitting the enemy. And I realized, this game is friggin cool...

One thing I recall was I was using my merc to provide covering fire and he was doing it with a Beretta 93R. A lot of my shots were hitting the ground in front of the red shirts dug in across the map. My choice of weapons these days is a little bit more appropriate. :biglaugh:

I'm fighting at the San Mona mine, creeping along the cliff face and using the rocks for cover. The badguys are tossing smoke and frag grenades. I take a few hits from grenades, but not enough to worry about. I get in an extended firefight amongst the rocks, eventually taking them all out. After the fight I try to send Grizzly to pick something up and he won't move. It seems one of the grenades was more powerful than I thought and it has blown Grizzly onto the upper edge of the cliff where he can't exit. D'oh.

First game. After Drassen, go to Chitzena(hadn't found anything interesting in San Mona - things have changed). Attack the night(I hadn't noticed you could choose, that was random).

Dunno why, I had given the chinese crapgun to Flo with blue bullets. A bad guy comes. Flo shoots the chest. Chest explodes, bg jumps back. Another one comes. at the same location. Same condition, same results. I never played without Flo since(even if I noticed since that her combat skills are "not that good", hehehe).

In my current game I'm trying to break myself of my normal / JA:DG habit of hoarding special weapons & stuff "for when they're really needed". So on the way to San Mona, my squad got caught in a nightfight in the plains. With the last APs available for the round, my IMP threw one of his 2 precious regular hand grenades (looted from Drassen SAM) at 2 BGs. 2 more BGs behind them (unseen) were caught in the blast .. and one of the nearer ones caught on fire ... waving, staggered back, dropped to his knees and collapsed, still smoldering. Only time I'd seen that ... turkey shoot from then on, once I'd finished laughing. :bomb:

my first memorable moment arrived with the JA2 demo - keep in mind that up until then there was only JA1/ Deadly Games:
The squad was pinned in the basement by some badguys queuing up in a doorway. Ivan takes careful aim with a Dragunov (looted from the rooftop sniper aboveground): Exhale, squeeze - resulting in my very first head splat - then the bullet continues to the second lucky guy, killing him with a headshot (but no gibs) - before finally embedding itself in the third dude's cranium! Three enemies with one bullet! I've never been able to repeat that feat, killing more than one person with a single bullet.

A memory springs to mind...

I hired Dr. Q without any equipment. He showed up to whatever sector just as the enemy attacked. As he ran away, someone inturrupted and shot him in the head point blank with a pistol. It did 0 damage. Needless to say, he got the hell outta there.

The day I discover that I could hit an enemy that was 15-20 squares away with all 5 bullets from my FA-MAS, killing him in one single burst

Must admit: hat was today, didn't use burst much unless I was at pointblank range. I used it occasionally with my IMP in a previous game with his MP5K, I could hit a bloodcat that was standing on me. Never thought that psycho and AW speciality could have such an impact.

But... Now that I have discovered it... What is the best weapon to use in burstmode (I know, wrong topic, but it will probably be answered anyway Wink )
I currently own:
AKM, C-7, FA-MAS, M14, G11 (no bullets though), FN-FAL.

The C7 and FA-MAS are great for AW/psycho combos. The light machine guns work well also but if you put a FN-Minimi in Buzz's hands make sure she has a lot of ammo.

Lots of memories from this game - have been playing for years anyway. I'll try to keep a chronological order.

When I first tried the demo (btw played it about 20 times before buying the game, wasn't sure if i liked it at first, but i realised that playing a demo 20 times WAS liking it), battling that elite guy in the basement camped into a room, then meeting with the bugs below.

When I restarted the game after a lot of times of IMP experimenting, and learned what exactly did the word "marksnmanship" mean. Then I stopped setting it to 35.

When I realised that the readme of the demo was acutally speaking the truth; the demo only showed the tactical portion of the game. JA is far more than that. Got me stuck since then.

When I found my first Steyr in Tixa. I didn't know much about guns then, but i liked the color. Soon I realised it's one of the best guns as well. It's my favourite since.

When I learned about combinations like the X-ray detector, and generally found out what items could do (like marbles). Patusco's guide was a good help, but I was late to discover.

When I finished the game bursting the queen with the auto-rocket rifle for 256 damage. Will probably never forget that too.

When I discarded the each-step-and-save-and-load-when-hit-for-more-than-1-damage thinking. And thankfully I did. I discovered the game in full, applying proper tactics, creating a team of specialists (doctors, snipers, etc) and not an IMP-solo game. Covering each other IS vital.

When I realised stats don't matter as much as positioning sometimes. A 60-marksmanship mule with a very-short-range shotgun besides a corner, and the rest of my wounded team behind him, so my only option was to count on him. Each turn one or two interrupts, usually one-shot kills against unarmoured opponents. He had 85% accuracy (it was the first time i actually shot with him).

When I realised JA has this unique sense of humour in every single piece of it. I was too young to understand all the irony at first.

When Ira, holding a scoped dragunov in excellent condition, missed a guy right next to her, twice...

When I killed Ira right after with a TNT and reloaded.

When I first installed Deidranna Lives. Knowing that there was something more than JA, was amazing. My favourite moments are when discovering the crossbow (early on) and the napalms.

When I defended Alma against 20 elites, with my squad and 20 militia, at night. I was suspecting the attack and had my mercs well-placed, so started throwing each and every grenade I had towards them. The battle ended with 20 elites dead, and only a milita dropped to duying (which i saved eventually). I still have that savegame.

When I was playing JA2 on a hot-seat style with one friend. Each created his merc (had to hack though) and playing it individually. It was fun cooperating like this.

The first time I played, it was a cakewalk thanks to the random stuff going on. I took Drassen and headed out at night to the next sector south which, unknown to me, was filled with the enemy. Unknown to them, it was also filled with bloodcats. So, my team stood there listening to a lot of growls and shoooting and when it was all done, there was nothing left except one very badly wounded bloodcat and lots of toys.

Then, we go off to the Alma warehouse, we pick EXACTLY the right spot to cut through the fence, Raven jumps onto the roof one square away from the sniper with the UV goggles (who is looking the other way), and she empties her MPSK into his head. Alma has never been so easy ever again.

Finally, while playing Vietnam SOG Raven has the Stoner and takes up position in this little jungle area where there is only one way into the village. Team makes some noise, enemy walks out, she gets the interupt, fires a burst into the head, and gets the exploding head sequence. Back to real time, next guy steps into the same spot, same result with 10-12 exploding heads in a row. Quite the pile of bodies.

I conquered Meduna and made some melitias. After a while of searching deidrianna ( i didnt find her yet) i went to the tunnel wich leads to meduna and i find Joe. I killed Joe, killed all the enemys but the game keep sayin that the sector was not clear. After a long time searching the place i went Queens palace and then i fond elliot standin in the middle of the melitias. It was a priceless moment to see the mother****** being shot from everywhere, he didnt last a second.

The first time I ever invaded Alma.

I don't remember much, but I remember Biff being dead. I don't remember how (though it's probably funny) he died, but I know he was toting his trusty Smith and Wesson into battle. The sad thing was that all of my guys also had pistols.

It took awhile to get past the first part of Alma. Then, I'd get stuck on another part later.

I rarely ever hire Biff. When I was killing time by training for JA2UB , I hired him. Needless to say, he didn't stay long.

heres one that happened to me a while ago
i had hayqire razor and humus defending the middle sam site + 20 green militia
all 3 mercs r on the roof, enemy comin in from west
i had humus on siper rifle m24,razor with mortar + 4 shells and sks and haywire with minimi

lotsa of em coming in,killing militia fast, when they got to the west-south corner of the fence razor fired the mortar and hit a group of at least 5-6 head on pulverizing most them and another 2 or 3 that were wounded and landed a bit away

unfortunately(or so i thought) this made a big hole in the fence,at this point i have 3 or 4 militias left and they r still coming in big groups, too many of them tried to squezze in through that hole,at the same time so i just had to shoot them with my mortar again Smile

these two mortar shells along with some good shooting from humus and haywire did it,1 militia survived...

Trying to conquer one of the SAM sites and 5 of my men are lying in the woods and shooting at the enemy while Wolf sneaks behind the enemy and blasts them all with a shotgun. I think there were 5 or 6 redshirts. That was kinda fun.

I have found that when you do something stupid,
or insane. The AI will give ya a break,
and sometimes help you survive the onslaught
because of it. Sometimes it happens TOO well
in my opinion. But i wouldn't suggest pressing

Daily Journal Day : 37

9am

Awoke this morning with the rest of the
team. In sector H8 the Cambrian Mines
Raring to go after having fully trained
the Remaining Militia in the City, and repairing
ALL equipment, including 3 Mortar Rounds
captured From the Sam site just south of the
city. We divided up into two squads, and
called in the chopper for Pick up of my self,
Dimitri and, Ira. While Scope, Wolf, and
two new sign ons Grizzly, and Fox were to
remain here until dark and clear the road
of sentrys that had retaken the main
intersection North of the city.

I decided to check the city and it's occupants
over while the Helicopter Flew in from the
Airbase. I went to sector G9, and
dropped off some stuff, & picked up some stuff,
I also Noticed Carmen in the Cafe.
I then went to Sector G8 to look
around there. I met a lady named Martha, who said
she was Looking for her kid. I saw two other
people looking kinda suspicious, and remembered.
I had seen them when i took the sector from
the Enemy. Sure enough they were on Intercept's
Most wanted List. There was a hit out on Mom
and Kris Carver both.

:axe:

I chopped off her head as proof for Carmen.
Started to head for Kris with the head in my
hand, when i realized I better put the head down,
and i did. I went up to Kris he was standing
inside a building with the door open. I walked in
He looked a little worried, as i Shot a full
Burst at him. He swore out a curse, as he
proceded to burst back at me, one shot pierced
my body armor Causing a fleshwound

:axe:

Patched my arm and side. To stop the bleeding.

:ok:

Well for my moments.
The first one I experienced was when Pablo stole my stuff.
I had learned the punch and shoot trick and my habbit was giving him a bullet.
So Razor (Was kicked out after that) got the job to give him a single bullet from the G3.
He goes psycho, hits Burst and fires three rounds into him, and kills him, getting the fancy civillian death animation on Pablo.

The other one was when I were attacking Meduna, I thought I had 3 enemies.
Then I see one, pulls out a LAW and I say: "Holy shit, I am done for!" He fires it, I watch the projectile travel a short path, hits an enemy and kills him, FRIENDLY Fire, good for me bad for them.

It happened when I played UB for the first time...Ironman, of course.

I was about to conquer a sector (don't know which one). All enemies were dead except one, and all mercs in perfect condition. When I spotted him I approached with Grunty, Ice and IMP. They shot, but they missed all. "No problem", I thought by myself, "after his turn he will be dead meat." So I pressed the continue button.
The guy took out a rocket launcher. I got irritated. He fired...WUMP!! Ice dead, Grundy critical, IMP heavily wounded.
The guy switched back to his rifle...BANG!...Grunty dead. BANG! IMP critical. End of "the guy's" turn.

Guess how I felt...

Playing the Deidranna Lives mod, I attacked the gunrunner sector just outside Drassen. I'm doing pretty well for myself, having waxed 4 GR with Slay and Nakano, my IMP. I'm set up next to the cliff so that any of the GR's walk out, I get first shot. Another one pops out, Slay headpops him with the Scout. Head goes *SPLAT*, bullet keeps going and detonates the gas tank on the building, wiping out 3 more 'runners. Lovely, just freakin' lovely. :bomb:

Once i have gained strength with Ira. The story is funny: I went to Gabby (forest)with Ira, and I brought some crepitus stuff there. After I had closed Gabby's door, some bloodcats came into the sector. They went to the door after a while, and I hit them with Ira's fist (by opening and closing the door). Ira gained 6 str. points, and 3 dex. points.
It was nice!

One time I had Reaper with a M14 in a building in Drassen (forget the actual sector).

Two red shirts line up at the door. Reaper takes aim, blows the first guy's head off with a burst... and then the guy behind him. Very Happy

Two head pops with 3 bullets. I was amazed.

I don't know how well people like the green/blue shirts, but they are my favorites. I love to sit in and watch the battles. If I think there is a coming attack I will move mercs in to land a hand or at least watch.

On of the best ones was in the mine sector of the first city (Drassen). Despite having two Divisions of troops (10,000 each) you never get hit by more then 20 red soldiers. This was the case one hot summer day. I had mercs to far to make it to the battle, but the bloody fight was worth watching.

The two groups slam into each other around the large building across from the mine office. The fight was brutal. Well trained militia verus red soldiers. Inexperience cost leaves. The shot rifles, then pistols, and then knives.

Both sides finally exhausted each other down to two men. The red shirt threw a knife at the blue shirt. He went to his knee and took the bloody knife and threw it at the red and killed him.

I ran to try and save the great warrior who had taken many kills before the last. Sadly he died before the squad could help.

Here is my game tip....IF your in a militia sector during a battle and you see dying troops on the battle field bandage them. The will go to critcal and heal. Less troops need to train as replacements and sometimes you get veterans.

Another great moment for me was in the center of Drassen. The Giant bugs invaded. My crew was sleeping in the bar (maybe sleeping it off) that night. One creature ran in one of the open doors and ate the bartender (one of the brothers). My mercs blasted away and I was left with a creature body in the bar for days. The militia fought with everything including machetes and shotguns.

Another tip. Becareful where you sleep. Before you have your mercs call it a night find a good place to sleep. Take building close the door. On the trail good defensive position in the rocks. If you do hold up in a building keep windows in mind and doors locked.

Never call it a night in the Hick's farm house though. Head back to town! If you bed down there more brothers will reapear when you wake evenif you wiped them out earlier. That mission is worth it if you like shotguns. On tons of guns you will end up with alot of high-tech ones.
