grumm mine being attacked by 20 enemies with 20 blueshirts, everyone died except my party which was haywire, wolf, and grizzly. 40 carcasses all around, most killed by grizzlys mortar rounds n wolfs sniping. It ended up being wolf griz n haywire (griz in poor condition, bad choices made by me with positioning) vs like 4 critical/poor elites.

1st day drop off in Omerta,

-Blood goes to the east, sees a target.

Turn Based Combat

-Blood ducks back behind the wall

-next turn, steps out (target hasn't moved),
throws knife &... ducks back behind the wall.

-Next turn, steps out, fires a shot (critical), MISSES two other shots, left AP-less (uhoh)

-Redshirt throws the knife (back!?) Hits Blood with it.

-Now, back in one of Bloods small pockets: a bloody throwing knife!!!

-Blood throws the knife (again...) and finishes it.

@DNA : looks like a ping-pong game to me ! Very Happy

Now, Biff and the metro :
First, you need to understand that, in real life, I tend to get lost quite a lot. It's sometimes intentional (what am I going to find if I take this other path ?), sometimes... uh... not. The very same day this story happened to Biff, I had got lost in the forest.

On the 5th day of my UC game, Biff arrived in Atremo. Wanting to introduce him to the roughness of a mercenary life, I quickly overloaded him with a truckload of junk that the A-Team had left behind. He complained, of course, but, merciful, I told him to take the tube to Calisto. A-Team had cleared the station one hour earlier, just for him.

He crawled inside the train I told him to take. Biff may not be the best merc in the world, but you have to admit : he trusts me completely ! So he didn't question my orders, found a seat, and waited for the train to go.

He went down at the next station, sure to be in Calisto and eager to meet his fellow mercs. He was very surprised to be greeted by a man in a leather jacket, who ordered him to pay the fee for some kind of security problem. :yikes:

Before Biff had finished saying "Just when I was starting to get comfortable", he had taken -37, -70 and -121 of damage. Like I so often do myself in RL, I had sent him on the wrong train ! Surprised

(edited because I confused Adrian with Atremo. You see, it's not getting any better ! )

Okay, this is probably the coolest random idea I've had that worked. Inside a building I have one guy shooting out a window, and another guy a few squares behind him. I end up finishing off the guy I can see, but don't have the APs to move away from the window, and I've just quicksaved (stupid). Anyway, no matter what I do, a guy pops out and blows the head off my merc every time. Then a thought occurs. I use my other merc who is next to the window merc and fire a burst from a weak SMG into his legs. It does about 14 damage, but more importantly, knocks him down and out of the line of fire. Next turn he stands up and gets the hell out of dodge.

A well trained FLO,so tired that she had about 10 energy level tries to climb on the rooftop of the medical deposit in Cambria.
In that "holistic process" she falls right through the roof, into the arms of a smiling elite wielding two Mac10.The man continues to smile and sais:

"Ennemy presence terminated" in the Alma shooting range(training base)...
Len talking friendly to Conrad.Mmh,"this conversation no longer interests me.Shooting you interests me".
-Remain calm, while I shoo...INTERRUPT!
Len draws calmly, looking in the opponent's eyes, his faithful Colt Commando and fills Conrad's legs with lead. One looong burst.Conrad makes an interesting sound, half pain, half disbelief,realising-after a vain attempt to move-that he has no legs .

"-Wanted to **** with the old man, son?Smoked more talents like you than my commander can even imagine. What can I do now,you owe me some bullets...Please,add this one!"
End of Conrad's "connection".

Oh,I reloaded the game,of course, and hired him for those 3,300 dollars,he's one of the most amusing characters in the game...
Hm,hm,hm,"drop everything,I am in need of medical attention!"
Do you think he knows now what will happen to him if he fools around, making the officer in my team?

I was playing with my IMP (Roadkill Wink ) and Haywire did his "how do you like them apples, roadkill". I was like "WOW, he knew my IMP's name. How cool is that for a feature".

Obviously it wasn't a feature, but a random quote Sad

Most of the more enjoyable moments in the game imo revolve around merc saying random quotes that just seem to fit, like TheScreenJockey's example. And obviously the various "aiming errors". Shooting fully aimed with a Barrett at 2 squares away and completely missing, having enemies kill each other with heavy ordenance by mistake, those sort of things Wink

Maddog enters the ring, after Darren's bell:
-Can I pull their legs with my bear hands, please?
The martial arts specialist hits him with the leg,he's totally winded, misses the only "available" punch.
The rotative from the fighter misses too,but now he has full energy!Air currents...
so,what he does is punch the mother f... with the knucle dusters for damage 9 and runs. The opponent doesn't have enough poins to reach him, they both breathe for a moment.
Maddog takes a step,invites him to hit.He misses!Punch in the leg,damage 12!Maddog runs.Breathes again,for two turns,and makes the "invitation" again.Hits the legs and runs...
Till he kills the "butterfly" joke.
ALT+L.

I had taken one of the buildings in Alma, slaughtered everyone and blew a large hole in the middle.
Eventhough everyone was dead, the game didnt give me the sector, logical conclusion. I must have missed someone. So I checked everything, all the borders every nook and cranny of the building...nothing. I got frustrated and thought "Let them come to me." So I had my imp go to the hole in the cantina and throw a grenade at the table. He missed and blew up a chair. After the smoke cleared I finally got the victory message. My IMP must have seen through the vicious chair's plans and missed the innocent table on purpose.

My imp was saved by a grey shirt. The red and grey shirt were around a corner. The grey was in the line of fire of a red shirt that was behind him. Lucky me. Now my imp only had a pathetic red shirt to take care off.

You mean he was saved by the red shirt, right?

One night I found Mike in a warehouse in Grumm, and while gunning down his "squad", sent a pair of martial artists around the building to a nearby door. Upon opening the door, I wounded him with a silent burst or two from an Ingram (MAC-10.) He crawled behind some crates for cover, leaving behind a trail of blood to follow. So, my martial artists hid on the opposite side of a pile of crates right next to it, waiting for him to come out. When he didn't, they snuck around the crates and beat him to death with their bare hands and feet.

I think it was that same night the next sector, another warehouse, when I crept in and found an entire squad (four or five) of enemy soldiers nonchalantly standing in close formation behind some shelves. I tossed them a mustard gas grenade and waited. Actually, after a few turns I skirted the edge of the toxic cloud (my task force was wearing gas masks but I didn't want to risk it) and fired into it. They just stood there or fired ineffectually until they died. Those were some sweet kills.

Here's one: for pretty much my entire time in playing JA2 and its various incarnations, I have regarded Dmitri Guzzo as little more than a mule. Whenever I used him in combat, he'd invariably 'forget' in the middle of a full-speed run to the next bit of cover right in the crossfire of multiple enemies, with predictable results. :luckystrike:

Always loved the throne room level when Barry blasts open the south door with some TNT and my IMP merc, Miguel and Grunty all standing by with LAWS. Once all 3 have fired "wildly till they've come out of their hiding spot", Raven/Spider detonates the north door and picks off those with their back towards them.

For some reason I can't put a finger on, this scene always reminds me of rushing Doom levels with a BFG.

Location: Los Angeles ( Hollywood )...

This occurred a few days ago while playing JA2UC expert, ton of guns, and playing Ironman rules of no reloads or saves during enemy contact.

One of the best unexpected events to happen to me was when my squad of 4 mercs ( Rosebud, Tex, Rude Dog and my IMP Bobo ), had just finished taking the Calisto CIA facility, and decided to take out the urban sector of E13 ( Day 2 03:43 ). We notice a large group of enemy in the E12 sector and a fair amount in E13 but figure its night and we can handle it. We get on the move and as we enter the sector we encounter not only 44 count em... 44 enemy soldiers but after placing my Mercs on the map I get the BLOODCATS attack as well. It seems we walked into a heavily trafficed sector. 2 squads from adjacent sectors arrived at the same time we did along with the Bloodcats.

We were lucky enough to set up behind the bar on the north side and ran straight to the wall and climbed up onto the roof. All hell was breaking loose south of us and the Bloodcats were having a field day. It did not last long but during the Cat attack at least 6 soldiers ran right under our gun sights heading to the battle only to be shot in the back by my crew. When the battle finished 4 enemy soldiers were killed by the BC's and at least 4 more badly wounded. We had a turkey shoot as the soldiers returned to deal with us and in a little under 30 minutes of play time we finished them all off. Only one of my crew Rosebud got shot and only for 9 damage.

Never before have I encountered so many enemy in one place at one time so early in a game and with such limited equipment and almost no damage to my crew.

Great story Headshot!! Just recently in UC my mercs were in one of the sectors NE of Adrian (1-2 sectors north of the road just east of Adrian). There are some very cool sectors there!! My NO team began to advance under cover of night up to the buildings in the middle of the map.

I kill a few patrolling enemies and I am still in real time .. when What the!?!? A dozen enemies "pop-up" right in the middle of my support team that was back by the east edge of the map while my NO team took care of stragglers.

Fortunately, my team got the initiative and killed all 12 of them -- Grunty with SAW, Ice with RPD, Morgan with PK, wolf and gumpy and IMP with M4s. It wasnt silent but I felt lucky to be unharmed!

AZAZEL - You ran into Mike on day one in San Mona -- in UB? If you meant in JA2, its scary you can see him that soon, but I thought he only appeared in SAM sites or enemy town sectors?

Yes,in UB!Second town!Second game ever!(kind of a surprise,not necessarily a priceless moment,cause it spoiled the "pleasure" of buying that weapon from "Rat-face").

But encountered him-not the same way-in JA2 on day one many times, doing those "conquer all in under 24 hours"-revision- campaigns.
