I have read some of the guides and threads on this forum and I have seen the phrase "multiple imps" used more than once, does this refer to the ability to hire more than one IMP Merc, is this possible in 1.13?

Hello TKSolway, Welcome to the Pit :wave:

Yes, you can have up to 6 IMPs in 1.13, 3 male, 3 female, one per voice set.
Number of IMPs can be set in the JA2_Options.ini (older versions) or at the start of a new game (newer versions, what is commonly referred to as 'the beta')

To make more than one IMP in 1.13 you just need to enter the code in BSE a second time and can start a new one. Make sure you don't use the same voice twice! You can also "resurrect" IMPs from former games (with their starting values) by entering their nick instead of XEP624. There also is a very comfortable IMP-editor around.

Hi is there a way to add 2nd IMP character mid game?

I am using JA2 V1.13.7609 (2014 OFFICIAL Release) BUILD 14.10.24 version.

Yes, but only if your start game settings allow it. When you start a new game you are presented with a screen of options allowing you to change the difficulty level, sci-fi/realistic, tons of guns, etc... One of those options is to allow the creation of more than 1 IMP Merc. If you changed this setting then you should be able to create multiple IMP Mercs at any point during the game upto the maximum number you chose in the settings.

Is that a permanent number? If you selected 2 IMPs and created both, if one dies can you make another?

To the best of my knowledge it is a permanent number. You can only have that number of IMP Mercs throughout the game. If you set the number on 2, then create 2 IMP Mercs and one of them is killed, you dismiss them, or in some other way they are removed from your team you can not replace them because you have reached the maximum number you can create in that game.

Hey there,
I have a similar setup to abhisheksimion;
I have DANGEROUSLY made many changes to the game over the last two years ... no trail of crumbs, here.
I tried to (after the start) change the number of IMP's in the INI.
It refuses to recognize that.
I get one and only one; and no more than twenty-eight (28) MERCs.

Yes, I know, if I re-installed a clean-install and make all the changes, it will work.
In the Vengeance-mod (and Vengeance RL) I introduced two IMP-characters, and other changes; no problems.
There is sufficient warnings about making changes after the game is loaded and run for many saves or days.
Errors or crashes ensue (as in right-clicking map-screen: it used to show sector inventory and other info; NOT NOW).

So, although several tweaks to the INI work fine, the IMP changes don't.
Maybe the newer MODs improve the INI so that after game changes (Config-files: Morale, Mod, JA2.options, etc.) don't crash the game.

In short, make all changes (get all your shots) at the start, and you're set.
