I know that if you hold scopes or binoculars in your right hand they improve sight range

but does this work if they mounted on an actual gun

When you're saying binoculars, I assume you have 1.13, right?
In that case, each scope will increase sight range when mounted on a weapon and that weapon is readied (press 'L' and click in the same direction your merc is already looking).
