I used to listen to the 28 Days Later OST, Prodigy and the like. Now I use the original JA2 score but I slowed it down 50% and added echo in the 16bit recorder effects. Works well and gives a much darker atmosphere especially the three creature battle tracks.

When playing Jagged Alliance, I mostly listen a Bach cantata Gottes Zeit ist der allerbeste Zeit (God's time is the best of all times).

It's just awesome to hear "In ihm sterben wir vor rechten Zeit, wenn Er will" when scoring a perfect headshot ("In him we die in our right time, when he wants").

Or "Bestelle dein Haus, denn Du will sterben und nicht lebenlich bleiben" when blowing a wall up in addition to kill those greyshirts inside ("Ready your home, because you shall die and not stay alive").

Or, even better, when I got three redshirts with one burst, "Heute, heute wirst du mit mir im Paradis sein" ("Today, today you shall be with me in Paradise"). I apologize my spelling mistakes, my inglese is bad and my Deutch ist even "badder".

@GOTH:
Thank you for your suggestion, but I like my classic pure. Wouldn't want to "mess" it with something that's from 1900->

Also, to this far, I haven't found no composition composed after year 1850 which would hit on me like mr. Bach and other old composers do.

Still sorry about my grammatical errors, still working on my inglese.

@ Goth. Volume left as is. For real nasty atmosphere try Bolt-thrower, British Thrash band heavily into songs about warfare, games workshop themes and general dystopia. Joy Division for sombre despair. Classical...Holst's Mars; Sibelius's Finlandia; Prokoffiev's Montagues & Capulets. Apologies for bad spelling in advance.

i used to use carl orff's "carmina burana, O fortuna as "Tensor1.wav" (the song that is played when battle happens in real time. not yet sighting any enemies.

That's just about the right melody to get the atmosphere right

i also use other classics and also soundtracks from different movies and such...
but embedded into the game not just playing it alongside the game.

Vey fey funny Goth. & I'm even eldar (39). I'm with Scorpion on that particular Carl Orff stuff. Wagner's ring cycle might even appeal if you like opera. Personally I don't really dig it. Yeah: Eternal War, the realm of Chaos. Great Sleeve and internal artwork. CD's are too small for them to bother with decent artwork these days. & I-tunes? No artwork at all. Artists don't conform so they're trying to weed them out of society imho.

ELO, Poison, Dire Straits, Moody Blues, Freddy Mercury - whatever takes my fancy at the time. Have to shut the door though, got surround sound on my set-up - wife gets pissed if I turn up the volume as I get more into the game.

Trouble is, I am a musical phillistine , I am into a very diverse range of stuff.

JA2: Still the old, funky standard-ingame-soundtrack ^^

Only JA2UB: Vietnam SOG inspires me to listen to some songs of the Doors, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane and stuff like that.

JA2 1.13: Some mix-cd of movie themes... especialy Hans Zimmer....

// edt:

Aw yeah, you should check out the instrumental songs by Abigail Mead from the "Full Metal Jacket" soundtrack while playing. Kicks ass and it fits just nice with the atmosphere.

@Goth, yeah I didn't list bands because I'm not really a bands kinda person. I'm a songs kinda person. Especially since the invention of the burner. I rarely like an entire album from a particular band, and even more rare do I like more than one album from a band. And unfortunately, it tends to get even more rare with newer music.

But I can't imagine a type of music to go with the sensless slaughter of millions of pixels better than either classical or Heavy Metal.

EDIT:

Come on people now, smile on your brother...

DTATATATATATATAT HAHAHAHAHA... Looks like I took a little too much off the top...

Everybody get together, try to love one another right now.

Yeah, it just doesn't work for me.

Man, I like metal, but you should try to listen bands like "Swamp Terrorists", "Skinny Puppy", "Gothminister", "Atrocity", "Die Krups", etc.

Try a search on industrial music and cyberpunk, if you want music, chaos, movement.

Believe me, you will be surprised!

And the latest album from this two bands: Fields of the Nephilim and Garden of Delight :grimreaper:

I like classical music, but most things you can find on net when you try googling are school things which some guy who thinks he will be great pianist or something have putted on his personal site (terrible performance mostly).

So as good/decent I would like any part played by famous/not amateur orchestra, or opera aria by famous/not amateur performer.
Preferably Chaikovski, Bethoven, Wagner, Bach, Mozzart... Clasical clasicals Smile

Now your really showing your age. :biglaugh:

But I still listen to the classics myself, Rush, I think Geddy Lee is missing a nut. :biglaugh:

Deep Purple gotta love Ritchie Blackmore. And Led Zeppelin, one of my all time favs. Robert Plants new stuff is very good too, he be gettin old though, and can't hit them high notes anymore. But that last album of his is great. Can't think of the name of it at the moment.
