Whenever I or my brother try to install 1.13 over the GOG version of JA2 we get the Runtime Error: "Number of tilesets in code does not match data file."

The other weird thing I noticed is that if you launch the game from JA2.EXE or the INI EDITOR.EXE it will fail with the above error, then the JA2.INI 1.13 file will be over written with the 1.12 version. Then the INI Editor will no longer load properly until the file is over written again.

I also have the original disks (not gold), and I can install 1.13 just fine. I bought the GOG version for my brother and I can replicate his issue just fine. If he uses my disks we can also get 1.13 to run on his machine just fine as well.

I was wondering if anyone else was have any issues like this? I cant find any info on that runtime error we're getting, but I have a feeling that it has something to do with the JA2.INI file getting overwritten when the JA2.EXE is ran.

My Brother and I are both running Win7-64. We are both using SVN to Download 1.13. Like I said I can get it to run on both of our machines when we use my JA2 disks.

Thanks.

Did you installed Jagged Alliance 2 into some directory that includes "x86" in its name (the default path)? If so, please reinstall your retail version of JA2, and direct the installer to use a directory other than the default which is subject to a rather user-unfriendly Window's security system.

No, I have installed it in the root, as well as I tried installing it on one of my other HDDs. It doesn't change the out come. I forgot to put that in the original post.

Something I should have noticed earlier, how are you obtaining the full v1.13 via SVN? Last I heard, the SVN lacks a working JA2.exe, it being removed for the duration of the closed Beta to limit access to testers.

You may want to try Tais' Single Click Installer here: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=273927#Post273927
Rev 4057 is the most recent executable available for the next few days at least.

So the original JA2.EXE needs to be overwritten with a custom one? Maybe that's the file my brother is missing. I started using my brothers downloaded SVN folder and I deleted my old one... Maybe thats why I haven't been able to get it to work. That makes sense, I figured the issue was with the JA2.EXE. Thanks, I'll test it now and post my findings. Thanks a bunch!

Haha. It worked. Thanks! Got the GOG version running 1.13 on both machines.

On a side note, if your the same "wil473" that made Urban Chaos, thanks for making one of the BEST mods I have ever played. The campaign story and game play were stellar.

I was actually not part of the team that produced the original JA2: Urban Chaos (that was the Mod Squad). Much later, I foolishly decided to stop talking about v1.13's capacity to run the Urban Chaos campaign and thus work began on the UC-1.13 Hybrid.
