Hey,

Long time JA fan, since the early 90's. Recently found 1.13 and DAMN! What a hell of alot of fun!

I've read through as much material as I can, to grasp all the concepts... still wrapping my head around a few things.

FIRST

On the wiki, there is an image of the map of Alruco, It has all the event locations, like SAM sites, and Blood cats. But what does the yellow symbol mean? in H16 for example?

SECOND

I've read people's comments, and uploads of pictures, about SUPER maps, absolutely massive territories, for combat! They look totally bad ass, and clearly ALOT of work has gone into this.

My understanding is that 1.13 is mostly a GUI and general interface/gameplay upgrade (Big upgrade!) But what about maps? What's the best load out? Is there a patch like WILDFIRE, that changes all the maps for new and improved ones? How do I start using these super maps? And can I use them mid game? IE before i've even gone to some of these places?

I'm setting up for the big Drassen counter attack, I want to fight the greatest battle of all time for Alruco... on a new map would be bad ass...

Let me know please!

Also, are the images of the spiders, H11, and I4, the Crepitus? I've defeated them many times, but don't ever recall seeing them above ground in those kinds of places... Even though there is that dude who sells the "ignore the crepitus" camoflauge.

Hello Gargantua, Welcome to the Pit

1) Those Yellow symbols mark places where you can find Madlab, I'll leave it up to you to find out who he is and what he does Wink the bugs are the places where 'that dude who sells the "ignore the crepitus" camoflauge' can show up.
2) Creating Big Maps is veeeery time consuming and there's currently no full set of them. There's AIMNAS though which contains improved WF maps (standard size) and a bunch of new items.

In general, any map you haven't visited can still be replaced during a campaign.

How do I download and exchange the maps? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

Thanks for answering my questions so quickly!

You don't have to worry about spoilers for me, I think I've killed this game about 8 times, wildfire atleast twice (LOL YES I actually BOUGHT a copy of WF back in the day!)

STOKED to get some SUPER maps...

the yellow symbols are possible locations for the madlab roboter quests. the yellow symbol represents a roboter.

@maps: you can install the 1.13 wildfire mod, which changes most of the default vanilla maps and add new story and items.

if you only want new maps with default ja2 story you can just apply the wildfire maps. there is also the insane mappack available which replaces a lot of maps with really fresh maps. insane maps, because it should be played on insane Wink

btw, welcome to the bears pit!

I guess INSANE would validate the use of the 10x sniper rifle? I'm having a hell of a time using it, AT ALL, in JA2 1.13 vanilla... I mean, clear across the map, is practically "Too Close".

Thanks guys.

Is there anyway I can save my IMP mercs, and their gear, for a refurb / restart of the game, on INSANE difficulty, with INSANE maps? You guys are the experts Razz

The IMPs are saved in the profiles folder as [callsign].dat, you can type that callsign instead of the xep624 code to skip the creation process. You'll get the IMP exactly as he/she arrived the first time you created him/her.

IMPs are saved in \profiles\userprofile_... and the filename is $nickname_of_your_IMP.dat2

You can reload them into any 1.13 game by entering the nickname in the IMP starting webpage instead of the generation code.
