New version up:
>>>Download<<<

If you had the previous version and the German annoys you (honestly can't imagine why ), you won't get around a fresh install of Data-AIM and Data-Bigmaps.

did clean install of ja2 off my cd..then added tai's latest sci..then the new aimnas..it barely moves at all..its like it refreshes every 10 seconds then lets my mouse move a couple milimetres o.O previous aimnas never gave me this extreme lag issue ??????

noticed clock speed entries at bottom of ja2 options ini and fiddled..no difference at all

Did you try to completely disable that timer in the ja2.ini? Otherwise, I have no idea what's causing it as it runs fine for me.

Bug report: looks bigmaps related:

I left a sector in combat and when I arrived to the next sector, I was enable to deploy my squad. All the sector was greyed out.

Still, I was able enter the sector by clicking done and all my mercs where spread out.

EDIT: that's with Tai's SCI 5171

Entering from eastern or southern edge? You need to move the overview map as it only shows part of the sector. Try cursor keys or some combination with those.

@Aki: On bigmaps you have to scroll with the arrow keys to the map border on the entrance side. Then you can deploy your team.
You can use SHIFT + arrow keys for fast scrolling.

It IS possible, but no easy way to do so. At least that is to my knowledge. I asked the same question a little while back and basically from what I gathered you have to "Frankenstein" it all to make it work, if you get my drift.

Big Maps are sweet, thanks for that. I was hoping you wouldn't get discouraged making them. Including NCTH is a nice touch and I know it was a lot of work. Having NCTH means that I can leverage my 1.13 and UC-1.13 knowledge in better in combat so I'm happy. I was happy before but you know what I mean.

Unfortunately I had a crash to desktop early in the game, but was able to work around it. My setup:

Made copy of my original JA2 Gold 1.12 install, the one I have been using for every mod for over a year,
then I unzipped SCI_AIMNASvER_r5171_20120409.7z over it,
then I unzipped AIMNAS Easter Release.7z over it,
I made *no* changes to any files, .ini or .xml,
I launched AIMNAS from the .ini editor and picked vfs_config.JA2113AIMNAS.ini and 1024x768 fullscreen resolution.

One of the starting options I picked included 10 man squads (I think this is important to note). I created an initial squad of 7 mercs, 3 IMP and 4 AIM.

Everything from merc creation to hiring went smoothly, the first battle in Omerta (A9) went well.

After I won, when I give the letter to Fatima, the game teleports my squad to the rebel hideout (A10-1). I know this because the game shows the wallpaper. Usually you get a red progress bar in a loading screen and then the next sector loads. In this case, I get a full red bar, then a black screen for a few seconds, then a crash to desktop with no error message on screen.

I restarted and reassigned two of my mercs to squad 2. Now, with squad 1, which now has only five members, I gave the letter to Fatima and then the five mercs teleport to the hideout (A10-1) where the Ira, Dimitri, Carlos, Fatima and Miguel scene plays no trouble.

I speculate the fact that becaue I had a squad of more than 6 mercs (I had 7) when giving the letter caused the crash so when I reduced the size to 5 mercs everything worked. Can't put too many mercs in the hideout map?

I have a savegame from just before I give the letter.
I also have a file /Profiles/UserProfile_JA2113AIM/Crash Report_10_04_2012___21_48.txt, should I post it?
Actually there are plenty of files in UserProfile_JA2 timestamped to the minute of the crash, should I post any of them? Maybe you have enough information.

Is that what I did wrong? I guess SCI really does mean single click! Do I need to unzip the SCI over my directory again or is the crash unrelated to this?

Nice addition as usual with Easter edition AIMNAS. Using 5171 Tais SCI AIMNAS_ER

Couple of issues I had in past and posted but am not sure if known and/or working on.

I have only had this in the Big Maps versions.

- trouble stealing from certain enemies even when no problem standing in tile and have plenty of AP's yet message is something like "not enough ap's for selected action"

Are some enemies chosen not to steal from when unconscious?

- can't see under rooftops even after explored in maps. Goes back to blacked out.

Is this on purpose and is it adjustable. I like not seeing enemies but prefer to see buildings once explored as it can be hard to see and know locations in tactical.

- Basic question for AIMNAS ER. What options are supported and should or should not be selected.

For example: Overheating, NCTH, larger teams, IIS, Inventory manipulation AP's.

I notice you have some defaults but didn't know if in stone.

Thanks again for great mod and PS thanks for food quest fix. (edit)

Pat

The roof going back to hidden is a re-load issue.

If you didn't reload and the roof stays hidden, it's because I forgot to add a roomnumber. Would be good if you could provide the sector in that this happens and an approximate location of the affected building.

Yes, looks like anytime you reload it resets.

Also merc squad over 5 breaks Fatima quest. In addition, I started quest with 5 in squad, came out and Ira on map rest of crew missing and unable to locate in tactical. Needed to strategic them one square in order to use them again. While looking to reenter to get Dimitri, noticed:

Could not find building or entrance to underground. It looks like the radar map is different than tactical and missing some building, notably the NE corner rebel hideout.

Could not find Jeep. - not in map anymore?

I tried to replace the maps, (without BIGMAPS) in the new AIMNAS EaterRelease, with the Wildfire-Maps from AIMNAS v21... It works but some objects are different than the v21 ones. (see screenshot)
Any solutions?

It's quite intriguing that folk have been asking for a way to mod regular (small) AIMNAS v21 maps. I actually tried to do it myself, to no avail. My reason was that I wanted to do a playthrough with new features and with a consistent map base with working quests (either on small maps or bigmaps, didn't matter) and not for quality reasons (obviously).

Do you guys try to back-port small maps for the same reasons?

The problem, i reckon, is that the Easter Release wasn't clearly identified as a Work in Progress and people got worked up when, actually, 1.13 and AIMNAS are in transitional stages at this time:

HAM5 brought many features which have yet to be exploited (think fragmentation for instance) by editing new items.
Flugente (among others) submits new features exciting features all the time. (tripwires/overheating/slings/scope modes/underslung weapon systems etc...) And those features require new items
Big Maps! those will take a while as well.

And as with every new AIMNAS release, loads of new toys we all want to try out.

As a result, I think people are eager to play with the new stuff but got used to the polish in the previous stable releases. Would it be worth it to release a back port of small maps while all the features catch up? Hard to tell, according to Smeagol, that's time consuming.

There's nothing to identify, it has been clearly said before that standard maps are discontinued thereby making ALL versions after v21 big map testversions, no matter what they are called.

I like where the test version (Easter Release) is going, smeagol. The big maps are really cool, and there are a lot of nice changes to general stuff in the mod, too. I noticed IMP starting gear was more balanced than in r4870 + v21, for example. Looking forward to a complete bigmaps version in the future!

hi!

started to play with the new aimnas, incl big maps, just yesterday, and i have to say quite nice leap forward again. the new squadsize is very wellcome.
i have some issues though. i dont know if these are features not yet completed or bugs etc.
the reblackout stuff happens to all already explored buildings. this is quite unhandy.
i have no loot on most maps now. there are only the drops from killed soldiers, but nothing inside containers or boxes.
there are almost no civilians, plus im having problems finding father walker. any ideas?
did i break the game at some point maybe?

no, that is normal. The new big maps are not finished yet. I guess the focus is at the moment on other things to ensure, that the game runs correct. Later (I assume) the maps will be finished. Take it as a preview of a lot of great new stuff. If you want to play the whole campaign, take v21.

v21 and latest SVN doesn't work together for some reason (at least not on my end on a brand new install). Somewhere between build 4915 and 5207 something got messed up or new features added that conflicts.

Oldest SCI you can get is 5066 currently and it's no good for v21. The older ones are gone. I don't know if they are mirrored somewhere else. Another option to get is getting UC4915 SCI and installing AIMNAS v21 over it.

does have some older SCIs in store.
(tho i dunno which version might be best for AIMNAS v21)

General rule of thumb: if everything failed - look at kermi's. Wink
