Where is she? Do I need her? I'm in the middle of the fight for the airport. I've cleared the two starting sectors and didn't see her. Went underground and met Iron and couldn't recruit him. I'm concerned that I missed her and I'm going to need her. I've got Dmitri, or Dim-wit-itri, since I've again grown tired of his forgetting stuff, like movement orders. Thanks in advance. Since I've got and airport to conquer and all. . .

She is in the starting sector, IIRC somewhere north east of your entry point. She is standing in the open, for sure.
And yes you WILL need her, and you dont want to ever loose her.

The conversation scripts in RR are kinda finicky, and Irina has a huge hidden boost to trigger the right lines.
Think of her as your guide and let her do the talking if you can.
Otherwise you will miss out on a lot of things, like quests, RPC

Can I trouble you for three more inquiries?
1. One of my guys is carrying a Vz 1974 Pallad grenade launcher, but Bobby Ray's doesn't seem to carry ammo for it. Will I find any anywhere?
2. Buzz has three 30mm VOG-T grenades. What fires these things?
3. 9x39 ammo. Where? Not at Bobby Ray's.

The Aks-74ubn has the launcher for them. Its a bit rare and you could have gotten one from Max in the Army checkpoint.
When you talk to him(with irina) he can give you several things for free. But i think you have trigger the quests from the chekpoint commander(Ilja) first.

BR will sell ammo and most gear as normal when you progress in the game. The grenades from the launcher should pop up, but there are also some to find.
Not sure about 9x93, i checked my half way save and BR didnt have it.

I think i should give you some pointers here.
BR will never sell real guns, only non lethal and launchers.
You have to loot and steal your guns or look for quest rewards and such.
The enemy will mainly(or only) carry eastern weapons. Some western guns can be bought from a special trader though.
There is also a russian trader between the checkpoint and the first town(drassen in vanilla).
Just follow the road and you can buy a decent baseline of guns, he even as 9x39 but not much.
BR will also never sell clothing. The port to 1.13 is missing the xml stuff, as The Scorpion only enabled NIV and not really supported it. You will have to play some battles with Drop all to get ammo pouches and vests.

Use Irina for talking, and quicksave before talking to any NPC always!
As said the scripts are flimsy and even Irina can sometimes mess them up.
Toggle Spoiler

Also pay attention to your history log and what quests you have.
It can become confusing, but a good start is to look for your employer after liberating the airfield town.

You can ask away in here.
I can probably help you with most things, as RR is pretty much my favourite mod.

A last advice, the 1.13 version of RR is not totally stable.
Most crashes are probably linked to errors in the item choice files for elite soldiers AND militia.
Try not to train dark blue militia and save often.
Sometimes certain sectors will crash the game upon entering, this can often be fixed by entering another sector first but not always.
So save often and on multiple slots! Very Happy

regards

Where do I enable "drop all" or is it on by default. Shoot, now I have to fight my way back to the starting sector. Oh well. This is my third mod I've played. Started with SOG '69 and just finished the one with the robots(?), Urban Chaos? Thanks for the help. How is Irina as a fighter?

Assuming that the RR .exe does not change this, it's an option you have to choose on game start; it cannot be toggled mid game with 1.13 v4870.

Seeing that RR was branched off at half the revision count, it should be on the preferences screen.

Thanks all. God grief, how I love this game. And I just noticed that I'm now a drill sergeant. Neat. Anyone know some good "jodies"?

Please stop being coy and just tell me what sector he's at. I have Irina, 62 marksmanship? Ecch. . . Crying for some LBE gear. Dead guys haven't dropped any yet and "drop all" is and has been enabled. Still having fun though. . .

Im not coy, but sometimes people like to have hints and find out themselves. Instead off being spoon fed.
In any case, he is in C9.
But watch out for soldiers, as there is a patrol in the sector and the AI will always restaff it after a while.

Irina
She will become a very good soldier if you use her. In my first run i only had her talk and nothing else.
In my last run she turned into a beast, killing 5 elites during an interrupt with a silenced Groza.
Good times. Very Happy

LBE
As said, it will drop, but only with drop all activated.
Even when the soldiers have LBE they will not drop it with the normal drop system.
Its one of the flaws that the 1.13 port brought.
But i imiagine you do not have enough progression points.
I usually turn on drop all, after i have taken the first city&SAM site. And then again sometimes later to get what i need.
Another way is to take it from RPC

Toying with the idea of hiring merc's for one day, then dismissing them but keeping their LBE gear. But that means I'll be paying $2,500 for a back-pack.

Yes, it does. But depending on your money stash its not too bad. But its not a good idea in the beginning.
A vest, and some leg pouches can go a long way before you really need packs.
Try to work with what you got and make the best of it.
Also loot&steal everything you can.
Non lethal weapons are worth theire weight in gold, because they let you rob soldiers!
The taser and pepperspray are pretty good for this.
Sadly there are no stun grenades, only flashbangs which are meant for indoor combat and do jack shit in the open.
Teargas is still there though.

I like to think that this flaw in the xml files increases the challenge of RR, because you have to live of the land much more then in other mods.
Though if you know how the tables work you could fix the normal drops and the itemchoices.
Man, if only i knew this stuff. I would have whipped up a patch ages ago. Very Happy
There is a bunch of kickass guns you will most likely never see with the normal drops system and some are only present in the files and not even enabled.
To see the full weaponry one would have to enable every single gun to appear in BR
