I'm trying to get through JA1 but I keep having to start over due to mercs getting too wounded for me to continue or my cash running too low. There's also a thing that happens where the native guards (blue) will stop joining up if you stop taking sectors. IF you make it through a day without even wounding a guard in an enemy sector, then ALL the natives will immediately desert you and leave a bunch of sectors unguarded.

The reason I mention this is, how in the hell do you manage to deal with this while keeping your mercs healed up? Even with the best Dr in the game it still takes at least a day to get everyone back in acceptable condition to go back out in the field, but I'm always left so vulnerable when doing this and I can never seem to get my momentum back after stopping to heal some mercs. Could anyone give me as detailed as possible personal example of what you do in order to stay in the game? Or at least give me some general advice on what it is that I need to be doing. Surely people don't abuse quickload in order to get through everything...

Basically, I heal at max 2 merc so I've 4/5 ready for action (usually 1 merc as repair man). You should have a buddy for some core people by mid-game: as 2x marksman, 2x mechanics (field), 2xexplosive mercs (if you can afford). So if any get injured, the replacement comes in. Usually not so nice if the replacement can't do the job well--Static for example, with high mechanical skills, could not open some doors than Magic could. So I try to ensure key personnel like Magic, Ivan, Fidel DO NOT get hit and become stay-at-home patients. If you are desperate, slight wounds do not warrant patient mode unless they can't do the job.
