Once in a blue moon, there's some discussion on what happened to good old games and their developers. Today I found out what happened to the devs who worked on "The Fall: Last Days of Gaia", a post-apocalyptic Fallout style game published in 2004 that had a lot of potential and a lot more fail built into it.

So when Deep Silver went bust, the dev team merged with another studio and formed The Games Company Gmbh (TGC). Now this is where the plot gets interesting. If you try to visit TGC page, you can find a legal notice saying:

Quote:

You are trying to access a domain that previously belonged to The Games Company Worldwide GmbH. Following a decision dated August 31, 2010 the Charlottenburg (Berlin) district court has initiated insolvency proceedings regarding the assets of the company

According to their website, Noumena is mainly working on fantasy-action-RPG "The Dark Eye: Demonicon"

Interesting side note from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalypso_Media :

Yea, I was intrigued by that, but they were quick to point out in description (at least on the Youtube trailer) it's about the "omerta law". The game itself is a Mafia ripoff so it makes sense.

Yeah, I read about that too and smirked. The Fall had so much promise and good ideas. Shame how it turned out, especially the release fiasco.

As it's a tad hard to get this game nowadays, I made a full Let's play of it, a while back. It's in screenshot format so it may entertain you during a rainy day. Or just bring you nostalgia. Smile

As a tidbit, during my research for the Lp I found out that The Fall was turned into a TB flash game for cellphones. It's actually not that bad.
