I am quite eager to play it, honestly. And it's so tied to our JA:F... why not? Probably most JA fans will buy it so it's a good game to feature here.

Yeah, I saw that Gameplay Demo from the GDC '13 where Thomas is showing and talking about it. I was kinda impressed. I'm excited about it. And like Thomas also said it's aimed for Steam. Smile

P.S.:
Maybe you can put this demo video in your startpost that you can have a first gameplay sneak peek from it. Smile

Most of the people I got interested in the JAF KS were like "They're doing a Space Hulk Game?! Count me in! (into SH and into backing JAF if I like what I see with SH)" Smile

Furthermore SH might be an inspiration for Flugente and his WH40K modding thingy - that's reason enough to give room to SH here ... Wink

Well, i am also quite excited for Space Hulk.

After all, it has been since Chaos Gate that i saw a proper turn based WH40K game.
And the Space hulk board game was also my first contact with the whole WH40K franchise back when i was still just a little Mauser.

But one of the things that concern me about it, is that so far the only enemy type we know of are Genestealers and the only unit type for the player are Space marine Terminators. This strikes me as a little restricted and boring and lacking in variety.

Heh, we can't talk about the future-content yet. But we'll keep our way to not go for Skinpack + Weapons DLC things. DLCs must be new and worthy content. So to speak digital AddOns.

I only learnt about the Space Hulk game when I first looked at the JAF Kickstarter - and I'm really looking forward to it!

any chance of a demo? (since we're all a bit oldschool here^^)

@Mauser - Thomas did say during the video stream that they were planning DLC for Space Hulk. Hopefully this includes Ultramarines, Space Wolves and maybe some of the other races as well.

That may well be the case sirlach, however i doubt that i and many other gamers would be content with having a base game where there are only one sort of Terminators and one kind of Genestealer enemy (which of course could be varied through mutations) to fight.
I do not know the story on which the game is to be modeled and if that has also other enemy types.
If the main enemy at least would be not only Genestealers, but Tyranids in general, there would be enough potential for variation at least.
I remember the original Space Hulk boardgame having also Orks and probably even Chaos Space Marines as enemy figures (which i all painted painstakingly). But that was all 20 years ago, so my memory might be a bit hazy on the details there.
Still i hope the demo we saw was only an early glimpse of a much larger and more varied gameplay.
Having DLCs to add different Space Marine chapters and even more enemy variations, maybe even new campaigns surely would be nice, but only if the base game already has a proper amount of sufficiently varied content.

DLCs should only ever add extra content, special stuff and expand an already rich gameplay, but NEVER EVER add basic content that should have been present from the very start!

Btw FC, kudos for including the "skin packs" addons in the high level pledge tiers for JA:F. The second you posted them on KS RPG codex was all "omg they're already making DLCs for this game". :dontlike:

Any time you prove wrong a moan on Codex, God saves a kitten.

These were generated for those who wanted them during the Kickstarter. It was a request by the community and we went for it. But we don't plan to release them as DLCs in any case (which wouldn't make sense). So consider it as an exclusive Kickstarter thing :-/
(and on the other hand: Codex... they shall have their own codex. We follow a different one)

A small favour to ask. Would it be possible (assuming you have the time and will of course) to do Skinpacks as free DLCs? More customization options are always nice, even better when they don't require us to pay for it. Alternatively, would a "Paint uniform" option be viable, like the one in Dawn of War?

Skinpacks are meant to be kickstarter exclusive, as a reward for backers. I don't see the point of making them free DLC!

True, so the Tomb Diver skin pack is a KS exclusive. But what about a Bloody Rain skinpack? Couldn't that be a free DLC later on?
Though I was specifically talking about Space Hulk, so a warhammer chapter DLC would be appreciated by quite a few I guess

Excuse me, i thought you were continuing the discussion about JA:F skinpacks.
More chapters and more ennemies will be appreciated, of course. A free DLC or a patch to include them would be neat, but a real addon seams necessary for such content, to be of good quality.
A few cosmetic additions can always come with a patch.

Awesome to hear that. Too many companies are cashing in on cosmetic's or overcharging for items which should be a lot cheaper.

There's other ways to charge for content and it should be content that is worth the price Smile

Still remember the old game with the same name that my cousin had (was EA compilation: that plus Populous 2, Ultima Underworld and other games I don't remember) and there was a space marine with a claw that instantly killed all aliens, but once I started to move him aliens surprised him by side coming out the fucking walls. Space marine with lightsaber was in intro but never seen ingame.

Yup, Lightning claws are absolutely deadly close combat weapons. Powerfists and Chainfists no less though. If you can rip apart a massive steel bulkhead with them, some squishy biomatter should pose little resistance.

A Space Marine with a lightsaber would be a copyright infringement. Surely you mean a Powersword? Wink

I didn't found out, if Space Hulk is out in the stores. Is it? Would like to buy a box, not a 100% Steam copy. DOes anybody know details where to buy in Austria or Germany?

(I do use Steam, yes, but only for copy protection evaluation. As far as possible I'd like to buy boxes.)
