We all play other games. Even Chris Camfield confessed he plays World of Tanks. I played WoT for years but never talked about that here.

I am now playing X-Com. Loving it. And new Company of Heroes is out. And I also like Total War series of games. Plenty of stuff to share thoughts on.

So I am thinking that a new section with forums for these games can't hurt. But I am willing to listen to the members so I am making a poll. Let's how the majority feels.

Sure, why not. Keep it simple though with a very limited number of forums.

No. There are other forums already for those games. Adding more forums here will invite non-JA people to spam non-JA crap in the JA forums.

Non-JA people are way more likely to find the official or dedicated fan forums than The Pit. I see no hurt in making something like 'General Gaming' instead of dumping it all in the OT.

The likelyhood of non-JA fans coming here to discuss their non-JA games is not high, but it might help bring a few non-JA fans around to being JA fans Wink

I'm all for it, at least I can then talk about all the other games I play/mod/make too Very Happy

Are we talking about additional individual subforums for each game?

I'm not exactly sure what Shanga has in mind, but I wouldn't go below genre level and likely merge even a lot of those.

I doubt it'll be a big section , mebbe just a few games we all play in addition to JA ?

Enemy Unknown , Fallout , stuff like that , not much point if no-one is reading or posting .

I was thinking along these lines:

1. a main forum for general discussions about other games.
2. subforums for most popular choices, like Fallout and Xcom - the list is open.

Hello,

I prefer this what Sam wrote:

A subforum for general discussions about other games would be okay and a good compromise I think.

Otherwise this:

Btw is it really reasonable (and necessary?) to give "Space Hulk" an own main forum? It didn't get much feedback and to be honest just because Full Control is developing this is no real reason for me to give it so much attention in the Bear's Pit.

I rather see it (maximum) as a subforum of the "Jagged Alliance: Flashback (General)" main forum, but your decision Shanga.

Best regards; Schein

Yes, because the sales of SH will influence directly the end budget of JAF so we'll help SH as much as we can.

I don't see nothing against giving a space to disuss about other games. Some of them are closely related to Jagged Alliance too - JAZZ, Brigade E5, 7.62, Silent Storm and more Smile

Those are more or less covered by the (failed) JA3 attempts section.

Let's think of some candidates that stood out the test of time. Making forums for games that only last one summer is kinda futile.

Also, I think we should cover both single and multiplayer (MMO) aspects. My shortlist is like this:

Single:
- X-com series, Fallout series, CoH series, Total War series
MMO:
- World of Tanks, Warthunder, EQ and WoW, GW, Diablo

If you have any other ideas of games that would be interesting, say so.

I think we should just make a General Gaming forum for everything not JA, define an activity threshold and split it up if we reach that activity. Imo it looks stoopid to have several boards with ~5 threads each.

Agree with depri: gather traffic in one board; if and when a particular game gets much activity over some time, the board can be split into another sub-board.

Yea, we could pin some topics there for starters and if one topic gets a lot of traffic then it gets made into a forum:

Definitely, personally I save a lot of money and time when I have a list of solid recommendations from people of similar taste who listened to what I wanted before making the suggestion.

Otherwise I spend a hundred bucks for every really worthwhile find.

It would be nice if there was something specifically for other tbs games. Someone mentioned X-Com. I consider that 1A and 1B to JA2. Xenonauts is the truest X-Com remake, but I'm not sure how well known it is. It'd be nice if forum members could recommend other games like that.

You can trust JA2 players to shoot you straight where conventional video game reviewers have other priorities in mind when they do their write-ups.
