Please bear with me gentle people. . .
After a long absence, I've decided to reinstall JA2 1.13, and this is where I'm at right now.
Installed to F:/Talonsoft/ja2 F: is my game drive.
I have the original discs, version 1.03. I patched the game to 1.07. I do not have JA2 Gold.
I have downloaded 1.13 4870 12/28/2011 Do I simply unpack it to F:/Talonsoft/ja2?
Bug Fixes 07/25/2012 Do I simply unpack it to F:/Talonsoft/ja2?
Running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690
What should I do from here? Please do not be afraid to use "baby-talk". I'd rather have a bit of "hand-holding" than assume I know what I'm doing.
Any profile changes I should make in the Nvidia Control panel for the game?
When and where do I change the number of merc's available?
I like, No Sci-Fi, Ton's of guns, Max and available Billy-Rays inventory and $1,000,000 cash to start.
Please give me the benefits of your wisdom.
Thanks

- Install anywhere but in program files, no need to update anything
- Download SCI
- Extract SCI into installation folder and overwrite all

- Play!

I dont understand what you mean by editing the amount of mercs available, there's extra mercs in 1.13, if you dont like em dont hire em?
Apart from that you can set pretty much every requested setting at start of the game except the cash part.
To edit your starting cash go to /Data1.13/Ja2_Options.ini and change STARTING_CASH_NOVICE, STARTING_CASH_EXPERIENCED, STARTING_CASH_EXPERT and STARTING_CASH_INSANE to your liking.

Also why use 4870 when you can use the newest SCI from here! http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/311288/Depri_s_Builds_and_Packages_Ge.html#Post311288

Can I get a quick answer to a trivial question? Why do the machine pistol holsters not hold machine pistols? Vicky has two mini-Uzi's and two holsters, machine pistol holsters, and yet, can't use them. Anyone?

Is this true for all machine pistols?
When told to use my brain I cower like a frightened deer.
When asked to use my brain, I uhh, well I just forgot. . . .

But, but, but, the link given to me by Sgt. Tais describes them as being "unstable". That's why I did not use any of them. Am I wrong?

Tais is kinda unstable too, two unstables cancel each other so it's safe to use.

Jokes aside unstable releases are usually very stable.

unstable = work in progress, features are added all the time and IF You find a bug You should show it to the devs

They are described as 'unstable' because Captain Brot, like any officer, is first and foremost concerned with covering his own ass against possible backlash Razz
They are quite usable.

So dl it, unpack it and have it overwrite any and all files then start a new game. Sad. I was just going to settle accounts with the hillbillies. . . .Well okay, thanks Skip.

Gentlemen, please hear me out.
Hey! you guys over in the corner, I can see you playing Mumbly-Peg! Who do you think you are, Skank? Cool it!
Down to cases:
I have the original JA2 discs, 1.03. Installed to my F: Games drive. I have patched it to 1.07. Then I downloaded 1.13 4870 12/28/2011 and the bug fixes 07/25/2012. And that's what I'm playing now.
But if I wanted to play this amazing game with all of the latest bells and whistles and goodies, should I start over? Delete everything. 1.03 to 1.07, then the latest "Unstable 1.13 SCI" Do I just dl this "Unstable 1.13 SCI" and unpack it into my F:/Talonsoft/ja2 directory? Would this get me all the phat loot I desire? Anything else I should have, try? Or do I unpack the "Unstable 1.13 SCI" over my current installation? I have no problem starting over again, from scratch, if there is a possibility of "problems" doing that.
Thanks All

Should work to unpack the "Unstable 1.13 SCI" over your current installation, let it overwrite any files it needs too and then start a new game.

Yeah, one can never have too many random junk files in an installation. /sarcasm If you're just gonna guess, guess quietly.
Always start clean since in case of errors in junky installations, we'll just tell you to reinstall anyway. Btw, patching is not required, so much was changed that none of the Vanilla patches matter any longer.

Giving good advice is encouraged, giving bad advice is not. That should be covered by this super special thing called 'common sense'. I suggest you acquire some of that before being all butthurt because someone corrects you on the internet.

@Cribbie
Exactly.

Good friends, please stop flaming each other. I've started over and have had no problems. Version 1.03 then the latest "Unstable 1.13 SCI". Seems to work fine. I've captured the airport and I'm now overwhelmed with the gear available at Bobby Ray's. I do have a question. I have a link to "Best of the Best 1.13 Weapon Comparison Guide" Is this still relevant?

Personally, i don't think weapon micromanagement is relevant anymore. Just go with the weapon you like.

Getting a dreaded "stopwatch" hang when defending Drassen mine. 5 minutes and counting. Then I crtl-alt-delete out and stop it. Running Win 7 Professional 64 bit. Any settings I should be aware of? Or just go back to an earlier save and start over? I've set compatibility to XP SP 3, 256 colors, and run as admin. Anything else I should try?
