A picture tells a thousand words. You can pretty much guess what this mod is about.

Can't decide whether to go for tank tops or tshirts. And whether to keep some of the JAF style (short pants for yellows... maybe matrix style overcoat for elites). What do you think? Armor is bound to cover some of the clothing so the tank top might be too small.

EDIT:

Going with the rolled-up shirt just to show it below the armor is a valid choice too. From what I have looked in the code, the settings for the enemies are pretty loose (just armor and guns), but they are customizable.

I want a bit of standardization because I feel like atm the game lacks that

OH SHIT ITS A GREY SHIRT!

But the... if I want that, I'd rather go full black, it has way more kick to the face:

Both what? Shirt style? I can let them randomized as they are and just change the colors...But true hardcore copy is with tank tops Smile

If we can only have one, I vote for the tank tops. This is a tropical nation, and its F'ing hot, what person in their right mind would wear anything but a tank top Smile

The original was more of a sleeveless shirt than a tank top but you are right, the armor is going to cover almost all of their shirt on the medium and heavy enemies.

Both shirts, yeah.

Could Frankenstein together something like this with both shirts and some Photoshop magic. Smile

Actually, this is 1988, can we get one of them to look like Tubbs and the other to look like Crockett?

And of course, as most nice things, a real "life" test nulls pretty much all my efforts:

Notice the redshirt? that spot? under armor, from side?

Ok, so if the shirt is a no-go due to the armor, lets talk other options here. Colored Berets or bandanas would work but that only works when they don't have a helmet. This brought me around to the idea of simply duplicating the existing armor and changing the tint on it. You could even get fancy and make different camo textures to denote whether you were dealing with regular conscripted troops or some of the more elite forces.

One could also go crazy, if one was so inclined and produce armor that indicated you were fighting super troops, fully decked out in Hello Kitty armor.. it would be pink of course Smile

Actually I think you can edit the DDS files for armor as easy as you can do it for guns (i've demonstrated earlier). But I wonder if the tint isn't code controlled (so easier to edit). Will test. Alternative would be to rewrite the enemy inventory from JSON and give them vests that show off more clothing. FC already uses red caps for militia and those badges, btw.

EDIT: Actually I kinda hate how the Heavy are equipped. Most enemy have face masks which look horribly. And they were brown longcoats. They look like an army of installers and mechanics. By pure accident one of the 1st sector enemy turned out in a "proper" attire. Still that face mask... like he took a head dive in the toilet...nothing scary about that, just fugly.

Yeah the little arm band things remind me of the arm bands the Nazi's used in WW2 on their dress uniforms. Not sure how those fit or why they were included but I suppose its an easy fix. I agree as well on the heavy helmets, they look like a cross between an EOD tech and a welder. The normal Kevlar helmets, LBE type vests, and even the heavier vests I think look fine, might need some retexturing work but overall I think those fit well with the time period and work well in the game, its nice to be able to see that you are shooting at an armored foe and address accordingly.

Wonder if those badges can be duplicated and used as rank indicators (as we had in JA2UC). They can be a whole mod in themselves, considering you can assign specific equipment either to a single enemy or to a group of enemies... I wouldn't throw them away so fast.

Maybe Bear's Pit can be defended by a group of heavily armed moderators, you know ^^

Both locations hold enemy info (for different enemies - AIUnits.json controls the random generated soldiers if i remember right)

Try loading your modifications as a game mod if your changes aren't showing in your game. Colors should be expressed numerically, there are online tools that tell you those (RGB?) values:

Quote:
"UpperBodyColor1": "0.635, 0.224, 0.224",
"UpperBodyColor2": "0, 0, 0",
"UpperBodyColor3": "0.31, 0.16, 0.01",
"LowerBodyColor1": "0.69, 0.98, 1",
"LowerBodyColor2": "0.69, 0.98, 1",
"LowerBodyColor3": "0.31, 0.16, 0.01",
"HairColor": "0.184, 0.145, 0.145",
"HeadColor": "0.31, 0.16, 0.01",
