I need an advise for ammunition types for the following platforms:
1. Sniper Rifle - for day-time snipe-and-retreat tactics.
2. Assault Rifle/Sub-machine gun(preferred) - for stealthy night raids.
3. Pistol - for support/indoor camping+ambush tactics.
that fits the following priority/specifications:
Priority / Specifications
30% / Stealth
30% / Effectiveness/Consistency (against armor and other late game obstacle)
20% / Availability (will resort to corpse scavenging ("drop all items" is enable))
20% / Weapons platform (low ap weapons are preferred maybe except for Sniper Rifles)
Im not pretty knowledgeable on the ammunition subject in real life... don't know the difference in effectiveness between 9mm and .40S&W for instance.
Game is solo-imp at insane difficulty.
Any other tips for solo-IMP insane difficulty runs are welcome. i will love to hear your stories.
sorry for my grammar, thanks in advance.

Gorro der Grüne wrote on Thu, 04 February 2016 13:32it is easy, the best (condition-) gun with the biggest no of ammo
P90 is (always) my prefered 1.13 weapon of choice as it carries 50 rounds, silent, low AP, light, accurate, reliable... but i doubt the 5.7 rounds to be an abundant cadaver drop.
since this is a solo run i cant reliably access Bobby Rays for a consistent logistic source of rare ammunition.
5.56 (for colt commando) are pretty common its just that they are too loud for night ops and the insane A.I.s are pretty accurate at locating my IMPS position.
currently using a 9mm MP5 (my starting weapon) which is still serviceable in my gameplay, no problem with enemy drops, but im pretty sure it will become ineffective once i encounter elite enemies.
This is my first Insane run so i dont have any idea what types of ammo the enemy will be using.

Assuming stock xmls, you will use AP rounds all the way, as it's the most common ammo anyway. Note that some guns (P90, Veresk) use a tweaked AP ammo that eats through armour like it's paper.
Ball/HP/Glaser are jokes later on.
AET is arguably the best ammo, but so requires BR or luck at Tony's, so forget about that.
Tracer can have a serious drawback if you are alone as the enemy might spot you during the night, however in terms of raw damage, it will likely beat AP due to more hits.
Match FMJ is superior to AP. However, enemy drops of Tracer and Match are too rare to reliably to use this alone.
If you use a silenced gun that is still too loud but you want it to be very quiet, use Cold AP, though it has lower damage than AP and requires BR/Tony, so you can forget that one too.
In conclusion, use AP all the way, and if you happen to get Tracer/Match/AET, use those.
Imho, the better question would be what traits, what guns and what tactics you want to use. Depending on your xmls, the idea to solo-snipe during the day is suicidal.

I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.
If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.Report message to a moderator

Thanks. Thats pretty informative.
i guess i wont have to worry about caliber types then, as i assume a 9mm AP rounds will be as effective against armor as, say, .40 S&W AP bullets.
i would then stick with my silent 9mm MP5 (which i find very effective even against elites (so far)as long as i burst targeting the head) for taking out regular mooks and probably get a P90 (or Five-seveN) for emergency cases.

Now i really want to know the answers to these questions.
