Is there a way I can enable Gabbi in my game? (I know you disabled this to prevent people from doing unusual things and introducing bugs but I believe I read somewhere you were thinking about adding it back in) I'm getting an infinity timer when an enemy AI is taking their turn and I have no idea who or why it is happening as I can't see who is trying to do something, I'm getting no feedback as far as I can see and I've set the DEAD_LOCK_DELAY to 15 to try and break out of it but it just keeps going.

I am at I3: Doran oil rig, currently beating 10 levels of shit out of some elite thanks to the stun gun and Mouse being a spy, other than that there aren't any other enemies that can see us as far as I can see. Let me know if you need any further information to help diagnose the issue or want me to upload my save file somewhere.

Also, the best way to fix the bug is to post a save just before the bug, with detailed description how to reproduce it.

Thanks for the new exe Seven, i'll give it a go. I have now got round the bug by reloading an older save but it cost me some progress (oh well!), not sure about how to give more detail other than I was sneaking around with the enemy in a non-alerted state as I hadn't been discovered yet and as I was taking my time getting Joey to level up his strength I had him next to this downed elite punching him and just press D to get my next turn and the enemy time bar at the top goes down as normal up to a certain point then froze.

If it happens again after this new .exe I will be sure to upload a save and link here and if I can replicate it in a certain way I will detail it as much as possible, I know doing prior legwork makes bug squishing much easier happy

Hi guys, in Drassen, sandbag fortifications are no longer possible. My tactics heavily depend on them there happy. I've been playing for awhile with an old build since July 2018 where it worked. After the latest one, it doesn't. I found changes in the Tileset #23 the Drassen mine at ../Data-Maps-Tiles/Ja2Set.dat.xml. The additions "<file index="12">cracks2.sti</file>" and "<file index="24">crckshdw.sti</file>" seem to be the reason. However, I kept them and fixed it another way. The indices of the sandbag/s.sti are 89 and 91. I looked for another tileset with the same sandbag/s.sti numbers and simply copy it's sandbag.jsd and paste it in the ../Data-Maps-Tiles/Tilesets/23 folder. After that I am bale to build fortifications in the mine. Hope that workaround will not brake anything else as this is a complete blackbox to me happy

Hey Sidewinder. The Cracks2 and Crckshdw sti's were added as an additional tile overwriting a repeat of the Sandbag.sti, as that tileset had a duplicate of those Sandbag tiles. There is still one SANDBAG and SANDBAGS.sti present in that tileset, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't be showing up, unless you might be using old data, or possibly an old save. You shouldn't have needed to add a Sandbag.sti to the tileset 23 as they are already present.

If anyone else faces this issue with a new install, please contact me.

Hey Xafloz, those mechanical drones and other techie combatants are part of the Sci-Fi mod option and were part of the original Vengeance mod. These are representing experimental weapon systems Hale & Burton have lost control of. These aren't heavily tested but were re-instated to add some variety for those choosing the Sci-Fi option.

Hi everyone!

Finally made my way to advancing in VR Reloaded a bit. I ended up recruiting Calvin in Oronegro since i knew he was really bad at his job. And then i just dismissed him since he seemed a horrible merc too.

However now Oronegro seems to have the foreman position stuck and I am not getting foreman benefit and can't assign anyone to it.

Any way to fix this other than hacking the ini to ignore foremans?

Not without starting a new game as far as I recall. If you have MINE_NO_FOREMAN_PENALTY turned on you need to assign a foreman to get the benefit from your mine or oil rig. I did find Calvin bad at his job also. If I remember correctly according to Scheinworld only miners/foremans can be assigned for this job.

Thanks for the heads up. I also would incline to agree that you need a miner/foreman for this job, but then again I would expect a different kind of error for this. I will try to fix it with MINE_NO_FOREMAN_PENALTY turned off, or if this requires a new game, I guess I will try again when I have an oil rig foreman, but I'm pretty sure it's bugged. Will reply if I ever find someone happy

If this is the same bug I ran into, the affected characters portrait should be grayed out.
If so, the only way I found to resolve it was to dismiss the merc and hire him again,
and at least not to use the heli until he returned (perhaps even not to move mercs at all),
else the bug would hit somebody else.

Does this issue seem to be specific to Vengeance or do similar issues happen in other versions of JA2? I must admit by chance (and factors/funds in my playthrough) that I haven't even used the helicopter yet which is why I haven't faced this problem and I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned it up til now.

I have an odd issue, doesn't affect gameplay. My IMP merc's portrait has changed to Skyrider. Cleared three sectors in Omerta, saved, exited the game. Came back to the game, loaded save, and the portrait had changed. It's only 23 minutes in to the campaign on day one, but any earlier quicksaves also show the same.

They should be able to hop over the boom gate like anyone else. This map was from an external map pack but I don't mind them staying inside to defend rather than run out and get picked off.

hello,

my 2nd post here ... thx again for the great mod ... I keep on experiencing a certain bug and dunno how to fix it, pls help not sure

bug >>> during battle the game sometimes crashes when a merc discovers a new item

I took a screenshot, game just freezes after merc's comment "I found sth" except for the music and that is it, I have to restart. this only happens when not in combat mode, in combat mode all seems fine. still such a crash is especially annoying in iron man mode after spending a lot of time in a major battle. dunno if ubunutu 18.04 or playonlinux might cause any issues which lead to that bug?


PS: hehe, cannot insert the screenshot ["You cannot use links until you have posted more than 5 messages."^^] anyway, guess the description should be enough info.

Hard to tell what would cause that crash, especially if we don't know what item it is, or which merc you are using. It's strange that it crashes in mid sentence, as a missing or corrupt sound file wouldn't play at all.

You've been playing for some time now haven't you? Were you playing on linux back then too?

Jeep, have been playing it only on linux via playonlinux & vine throughout 2019 :-)


Well, the bug has been occurring throughout the whole year ... I've learned dealing with it by simply omitting positions with possible dropped items from dead enemies (as far as i can tell it only occurs in combo with items from dead ai) and looking for them later when game is in combat mode again or after saving when the battle is over.

Another bug I experienced and fixed was a crash regarding a smoke file of grenades. The game often crashed after throwing grenades cause the game could not process a certain smoke file ... this I could fix easily cause a message showed up on screen and I knew where to go to change a certain file - the item bug is different though:

- mostly game just freezes and crashes
- sometimes the in-game battlescreen turns black & the lower screen with merc pics turns to empty without faces etc
- plus game freezes and crashes without specific bug message
- however I am not sure whether/how a sound file could be the reason for the bug cause it can occur with any merc and the game crashes after a merc's comment
- to me it appears as if the game is not able to process/integrate the discovered items cause the bug mostly occurs after killing a lot of enemies at a certain spot (corner of a building etc)

> might be a conflict of game settings/ a corrupt file/ perhaps even vine settings when game is unable to process a huge amount of new items in sector (?)

I am sure this has been mentioned before or isn't even a topic related to your mod but what about the irrational ai behavior with maxed out zombies? Playing with 28days later only headshot zombies is real fun but gets a bit awkward when 20 enemy soldiers shoot a zombie on the ground until they are out of ammo because they cant make a head shot^^ ... then the ai even uses all kinds of grenades and stuff instead of just knifing the zombie + one can pick them out one by one

Isn't there a way to adjust this?

Isn't that because the Aug has a integral built-in scope already? I think it's been like that since Vanilla. I think Exurok also provided an adapter or modified scope which you could use to replace the integral one.

Yes that's usually what it means but you still have the option of adding the x4 scope which effectively doubles that state if I'm correct.

Bug report I can't figure a way around. Currently in Day 9, and around Day 4 one of my IMP character had a patient "recross" stuck on his portrait (likely after being injured and healed) which won't go away even after fully healed (100% stats restored also). Worse, when he's injured in combat he can't be bandaged, and bleeds out. Attempts go bandage even by top Doctors goings on with no progress. Only 2 ways to heal his injury is via auto bandage after combat, or to put him as patient.

Game is running on Beta6(06.10.2019), but I even experimented today to run a backup game under the newwest rev2327(10.04.20), but no luck getting past this bug.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know how to compensate for using screen resolutions smaller than your monitor without being forced to use a windowed screen? I have a 1920x1080 resolution monitor but running it at that resolution makes things too tiny. I've chosen 1600x900 but it is just a little box on m monitor.

I found the issue! I was using dgVoodoo2 instead of the the Wined3D. I've also found that the version of Wined3D included with the JA2 SCI did not solve all my issues so I installed Wined3D 1.1.38 and it worked like a charm! I didn't even have to change any of the compatibility settings.

In case anyone else runs into the problem, here are the steps.

Steps:
1. Install JA2
2. Extract VR SCI to JA folder.
3. Install PerformanceFix.
4. Install Wined3d 1.1.38
5. Play game!

Couldn't be easier and the game is running like a charm!

I have a problem where the game crashes as soon as I open the inventory. This happens in tactical mode, but also within the Personal Manager on the Laptop if you press the "Inventory" tab. No error message, just a crash to a black screen. Any suggestions?

€: Fixed it by downloading the newest version from sevenfm's google drive.

Jerry Mello would always crash if he flew the chopper over water. Doesn't happen to Skyrider. They didn't fly over enemy territory either. Just from Alma to Drassen, green airspace. I don't know if it's because Jerry is not an Ace Pilot or maybe he's high/drunk but he would crash EVERY single time, i attempted this short route 3 times, with the same result. It's not really a problem, just don't let Jerry fly, not when you have Skyrider in your team. I should try Bob Adams, he's an Ace Pilot too.

Yes, Bob Adams should work. I have a feeling alcoholism may affect Jerry but I've tested neither in my game. Hopefully I can get someone to take a look at Jerry in particular.
