Gentlemen, i spotted an issue:
In P3, the Palace, battle goes ... and this undesirable happened

I fixed using the map editor. I won the battle, picked up some enemy stuff ... but enemies still in the area, with no enemies in sight!!!

I went to another map, I returned to the P3

Enter the P3, no enemies in sight, map has a problem. Help me please.

Are you playing with New attachment system or Old, Cerhio? If new can you send me a screen shot? Is the 4x Scope piggy-backing on the laser sight or just in another slot? I take it you can't attach it if there is no laser sight?

The AUG-A2 RAS takes less attachments than the AUG-A2. It seems like the possible attachments on both weapons should be flipped around as the AUG-A2 RAS only takes the x4 scope while the AUG-A2 can take the x2, x4, x7 scopes despite there literally being a x4 in the icon.

I can't merge the CAWS with the G36 rails to create the CAWS RAS. Not sure if it has been enabled or not in this mod yet.

RAS versions of AUG's should now have more attachments with the latest commit.

The attachment xml was also re-ordered, which previously may have resulted in some items not being able to be attached.

Hi there Hawk. I have something to report, it's not a bug, more like something that went unnoticed and i'd like to bring it up to your attention....

While i was going through VR DATA --> Table Data --> Merc Profiles, i did notice that, as per usual, almost all of the colored guys hate Bubba, since vanilla. Vicki doesn't though. Anyway, Bubba's UI Index number it's 50 in other 1.13 mods. In VR however, that number, points to PGLady 4. Bubba's UI Index number, in the VR mod,it's 101.

In Tactical Interface Settings, Player/Enemy_Hit_Count, i set it up to ), as per usual. Nothing changed. But instead of numbers, it now shows an asterisk. In the same section, SHOW_COVER_INDICATOR, again i am using option 1. Show using color of merc's name. It doesn't work, never did in VR. I wonder if this can be fixed, it's a very nice feature when crawling/sneaking closer to enemies. If it turns any color other than green, you stop.
About the damage indicator, i believe i have seen another option somewhere, i'll check. Yep, found it, it's the number 4 option, i have it on 1 and yet it shows me an asterisk when the enemy dies. FYI, i am using the Data-Vengeance\JA2_Options.INI. Not sure it makes a difference but i like to play a mod on it's name's parameters. Is that a mistake ?

In Wanton Winter and the previous versions, the sector inventory is 170 slots per page. In the newest, 2025 SCI, it's 77 slots only. Maybe something to do with the ddraw options ?  Resolutions matters not, tried at 800x600 and  and 1024x768, same  small sector inventory. I have no idea on how to post a screenshot, i couldn't even take on from the game until i changed something at the ddraw options.

Another thing, Gaston's comments, after a kill are silent, the message shows up upper left on screen but no sound.

You can grab a screen shot by pressing the Print Screen button on your keyboard, this will then save a .tga picture file in your \Profiles\UserProfile_Vengeance folder which you can then either message me with or upload here.

Does Gaston's other speech files work? Check you have 058_027.WAV in the DATA_UB folder.

  I did manage to get screenshots and found them in both, Photos on Windows and Data Vengeance in TGA form. Then i opened the last TGI on an online TGI viewer, to make sure it's the right one. I have no idea what to do next, if i click on the insert image button on the chat box, it shows me a small window asking for some http// thing.

  Concerning Gaston's speech, there isn't even a UB Data folder, only some UI Data, along with a lot of others but no UB. I did a clean JA2 1.12 installation and then the 2025 VR sci.

  Just to be sure, i did unzip the VR 2025 SCI, latest one, in an empty folder, in order to check it's contents. There is no Data-UB folder in there. Data, Data-1.13, Data-AIMv53, Data-Maps-Tiles, Data-Music, Data-PCM, Data-UI, Data-Vengeance, Data-Voice-Taunts and Data-Weapon-Sounds. But definitely not a Data-UB folder.

It appears all speech files are missing from the DATA folder, which included the UB speech files that migrated there in 7609, this has been like this for a long time, possibly even years. The latest SCI has been updated, so all UB Mercs should now have their speech.

1st time through Vengeance Reloaded.
Had the the same trouble with Dick, and I ended up killing him and Babyface - Igor was trigger-happy.

I had a small problem after clearing Salinas (not active) Mine.
There is silver there, but is it one time? (Question #1)
Also, do civilians track your pilfering? I had Igor take a pair of tweezers (or something small) and the town loyalty of Salinas plummeted below 7%.
They complained in the map-screen. Then it happened in Alma.

Dropping into Salinas mine from center building, I meet a Hale and Burton guard, and kill him.
Igor (or anyone) who happens to be at the back of the Merc cluster (five Mercs: Cobra, Vinny, Joey, Perko and Igor) is stuck in the corner.
He wouldn't move, unless I assigned him to another squad, have him climb up, and then drop back down again, and then re-join the old squad.
It's a work-around for an annoying bug. (Question #2)
After I return to Alma after fighting off counter-attack to Drassen, the Alma militia re-spawns.
Then, even after clearing whole sector, Grizzly leaves and returns and the militia for Alma re-spawns AGAIN!!!
Do I have to create my own militia to stop this? (Question #3)
I had an IMP still resident in the sector.
Is there a "Stop_Militia_Spawning" entry in the INI?

Hey Harveson.

The silver left over in the Salinas mine, is just residue after the mine closed, so it won't reappear once you've taken it.

Civilians and certain factions will react if you steal some of their items, but there are different factors such as items belonging specifically to certain people, and more global issues such as loyalty affected by ambient factors, say if you have mercs that have psychopathic or thief backgrounds. Salinas I have found is particularly sensitive to this at times, despite changing a number of values in subsequent builds.

I've had the Alma respawn issue too, so will have to look into that again. It might be a case of just adding a neutral civ to the map. As far as I remember even having your own militia will not prevent this. A battle will just ensue when you load the map in tactical.

In regard to moving mercs in mines or underground levels I think this maybe related to an old bug, as in Vanilla you could only enter one squad at a time if I recall correctly.

Hi at all here,

picking up the conversation with Hawkeye over at Tipps'n'Hints at thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=23279&goto=366483&#msg_366483. And after having had a look at the weapons.xml in \Data-AIMv53\TableData\Items\Weapons.xml you're ofc right. The weapons there have a single digit accuracy value given as <bAccuracy>.

For the M1 Garand & the M1 Garand EBR it is 5.

But then only the M1 Garand has a double digit <bAccuracy> with 82, whereas the M1 Garand EBR has no <bAccuracy> and no <ubAimLevels> nor <Handling>.

These three values are indeed missing for the other weapons i mentioned over at the other thread (M2 Carbine, the Barett m82A1M & m107 and likely a good deal of guns more as browsing in game through Bobby Ray shows). Accordingly the description in game gives accuracy as 0 (and subjective observation is that even marksmanship high mercs can't hit a barns door from 2 meters with these guns...).

So my understanding is that the weapons.xml is inconsistent, since most guns have <bAccuracy>, <ubAimLevels>, and <Handling>. Which then results in an incomplete description text in the games (BTW: A M1 Garand EBR with a laser pointing device attached then gains the devices' acc bonus).

Since I seem the first one to have stumbled upon this (or have not searched deep enough), my main question now is if the <nAccuracy> value is not relevant for the games calculations and purely cosmetic?

I found the Garand EBR to be quite accurate in my playthroughs, but there's a chance some newer weapons may have some missing values if the person who originally added them either forgot or data was corrupted when using the xml editor, which was a thing some years ago. I'll take a look at a few. Feel free to post up any that you think are suspiciously absent of values.

'Handling' has always been a bit sketchy, I can't even recall if they were totally explained when it came up in conversation some moons ago. As I understand it it's supposed to reflect "ease of use". The only thing that it impacts is actually chance to hit. From handling and modifiers we calculate another value "gun difficulty", that is further multiplied by shooting akimbo without akimbo skill, shooting heavy weapon without heavy weapon skill, stance, etc. It doesn't impact few other things you might think it would, like readying cost, interruption chance, etc.

As for n accuracy here's something quoted elsewhere;

nAccuracy is used to generate bullet deviation. The higher your nAccuracy value, the less bullet deviation you'll get which results in a smaller shooting aperture. But don't confuse bAccuracy and nAccuracy.
bAccuracy is exclusive to OCTH and has a range of something like -2 - +12. bAccuracy is simply added to the OCTH calculation.
nAccuracy is exclusive to NCTH and has a range of 1-100. And because of how the calculation works, lower numbers have smaller differences then higher number. In other words, the difference between nAccuracy 1 and 2 is basically negligible. While the difference between 98 and 99 is pretty extreme.

Vengeance: Reloaded when it was originally released never supported NCTH, so this may be why some values are missing, but I doubt it as a lot of item and weapon data was based on an older version of AIMNAS which of course did.

Also bear in mind longer range weaponry is actually harder to hit closer targets than close quarter guns.

I'm just loading up a new game with NCTH enabled and see the issue. Leave it with me. It is a little odd a number of guns are showing 0 accuracy in NCTH, mostly newer ones, but not all, so I'm not sure when or why the data was left out, obviously not a factor when playing OCTH but will be remedied now that is an option.

Says vfs_init.cpp can't initialize the library.  Any advice on that?

Update:I managed to get the game running, but when I save I get this error message that forces me to quit.  Any ideas?

It's hard to tell without a gamesave as those messages don't give much away. However the first pic hosted mentions a problem with the ambient.SLF which is part of your Vanilla JA2 install files. So you would possibly need to reinstall your base JA2 game again, if you haven't already. I'm not sure why there's so many issues with ambient.SLF, as that one's come up a few times over the years.

Nevermind.  I noticed the save file where game saves are stored is locked.  I just needed to replace it with a generic save games folder.  Seems it must be some sort of bug.  I installed using the GOG version.

Seems I picked up one really strange bug.  I booted up the game and all of a sudden the portrait for my I.M.P character was replaced with sky rider.  Odd.  Seems the portrait I chose when I started the game appears on the laptop, but not in any other part of the game.  Any way to fix this.

 Being unable to play the Brainrot version, latest incarnation of VR i believe, I went back to Wanton Winter and Gaston's speech files are missing. I haven't been able to fix the small sector inventory issue in Brainrot, so i'm wondering, if i can add the missing speech files in Wanton Winter. Any advice ?

Good Day to you all,

On my recent runs through VR I have encountered an issue with adding mercs to the chopper.

I have hired two additional Mercs, #20 and #21.
/index.php?t=getfile&id=421&private=0

When assigning them to the Chopper (Skyrider already assigned), the Loc column for one of the new hired Mercs give some Error,
/index.php?t=getfile&id=420&private=0

...and when assigning a travel destination I get a runtime error

Assertion Failure [Line 2695 in File Strategig Movement] Attempting to debug a save as SaveGame247.sav (this may fail) Failed to add movement event.
/index.php?t=getfile&id=419&private=0

There seems to be no SaveGame247.sav, at least not below the profile folder / sub-folders.

I can continue playing when removing  / dismissing one of the newly hired Mercs. But is that something I can prevent configurativly, or is that just a plain bug? VR Buld is 22.07.24.

Gentlemen, i spotted an issue:

Using the files "Vengeance_Reloaded_Jan_2025_English_Full"
and
"ja2_1.13(7609)_improved_ai_r2942_eng_plus_modpack"

/index.php?t=getfile&id=422&private=0

Trying to press "Ammunition" button this undesirable happens in the Mission Editor.

I allways used to play Vengeance Reloaded and the "1.13 (7609) modpack" in the same folder. I updated these two recently and, after some test, this crash happenned.

The issue may be with the 'improved AI mod packs' they are unofficial releases and not supported here by the original Vengeance team.

This one does look a bit odd, I'm not sure why Reaper has that 'Null' text and what appears double set type, so something is amiss. Leave it with us.

Do you have a recent save before the crash? Otherwise it's going to be very difficult to track why it's happening.

Hey Hawkeye! Not a bug but I was looking to play around with the drop rates. I basically just want to double or triple the chance of things dropping from how they normally do. I know when Drop All is off, the externalized XML tables are used but should I be using the XML tables in Data-AIMv53 or Data-Vengeance?

Also, I've started a new VR playthrough! Encountered my first new bug:

I can't seem to leave the underground hideout in the starting city without getting a runtime error and the following text:
File: vobject.cpp
Line: 922
Function: BltVideoObjectBuffer
No Source Object

I managed to finally get out by zooming onto the surface level (tactical screen) and then zooming back into the underground hideout. Not sure where this issue came from or if it could have any effects later on.
