Yeah, Tony is just an ATM at the moment cheeky you put in some guns, take the money and ignore his pathetic inventory cheeky playing Die Hard game, his uselesness also makes many weapons useless, with no BR, I just can't sustain the ammo usage of shotguns, or .40 weapons or in fact anything besides 9mm, .45 and 5.56. Everything else might as well be a club cheeky

I tried many settings and ended up with unmodified ini settings on Expert & Die Hard Mode with Drop All Items-> Slow Item Progression. Funny Thing is that i got the Automatic Rocket Rifle without Ammo in the Gas Sector near Alma as a Random Drop from an Elite but didnt got my hands on higher tier russian rifles. Especially AEK Series or the AN.. I think i saw them in the Items.xml so im curious now. Will there be more Weapon Choices in Future like Ak-12?

Weapon progression is based on what real countries use in Latin America, it's hard to find 5.45x39 weapons and ammo there.
SIG weapons are used by some countries in Latin Amercia, also they manufacture SIG clones in Taurus company or something, though we don't have special 'SIG clone' weapons in the game.
There should be more than enough 7.62x39 weapons in enemy progression, as army uses many of these, and elites use more 5.56x45 and 7.62x51

To the weapons, i still find thompsons in a game progression of 80/80. In my whole play trough i only found 2-3 AKM's and 2 RPKs. I usually get some MGs some Snipes and only western european weapons. And the rest are armed with trash like thompsons and other smgs. Since i liberated Malino, they started to drop some AK-103s and AK-104s. I understand that they are likely to take nato weapons but in my opinion they should drop more AKs becouse i dont think that the army should walk with some guys equipped with thompsons and the other with higher tier fn fals, sgs and top mg's. Its just pretty unbalanced in my eyes. Especially when the elites start to drop Automatic Rocket Rifles before any other top tier rifle. In some way RPG 7s found their way into the country but aks not.

I already got my hands on fn fals, m16s and snipers in the first sectors of oronegro in drop all activated and deactivated. Its pretty unbalanced in both ways. Have to visit Tony maybe there i get my satisfaction big grin

Everything works exactyl like in vanilla until the end of the quest, after you bring her to Angel, get bla bla bla, kevlar leather and useless deed, Maria gets auto recruited (unless you interrupt it like it says up there). Went through that 3 or 4 times with no problem, so can't really say what is the problem, it works flawlessly for me big grin

Seconded.

The longer I think the more I`m convinced that weapon progression/distribution is the only thing in the mod I don`t like so much. It is somehow not refreshing. Maybe it is beta, maybe it made this way to reflect RL, but you know from the gameplay perspective I feel like we have here huge field for improvements.
Expect Thompsons I still finds too much Garand rifles. Earlier there were too many BARs. Maybe they are in use but...

Hey guys, could anyone explain to me in layman terms how damage dealt is calculated and also what values affect remaining AP`s after being shot? Penetration values are all very similar of all ammuntion so as of now it takes 2-3 shots to the torso from 5.56 and 7.62 NATO rounds to drop a bad guy. I guess it depends on the gun itself and not the ammo? Still I find it a bit annoying that grunts take 2 shots or a 3 round burst to the chest and they keep shooting back happily. My lvl 7+ mercs get hit once and they are unable to retaliate or move or do anything really,all while wearing good body armour. Igor just got hit by an m2 carbine to the chest with full health wearing a close to 100% kevlar with ceramic plates and got knocked out for 3 rounds. I shot the shooter,a red shirt sergeant, in the head with a Steyr scout for 50% damage from less than 20 tiles away. Needless to say he crawled behind cover just to return the next round to fight. It seems as of now, assault rifles only hold advantage over smg`s by effective range.

Is there any way to overhaul penetration and/or damage dealt by weapons for the next release?

No, unless there will be someone wanting to overhaul the whole weapon mod. It's too much work.
It would be much better if VR used SDO or AFS mods as base weapon/item mod for better balance but currently it is based on stock 1.13 with all it's balance flaws.

This should not happen, looks like a bug, maybe related to background bug that was fixed recently.

That doesn`t tell me much mate, AP_GET_WOUNDED_DIVISOR should be left at 1 as per description, while the other two are dynamically dependant on MAX APwhatever that means?

It seems that Item.Settings.ini is only present in 1.13 folder not in Vengeance and its values are not relevant to actual damage dealt.
Individual weapons have their own damage value represented in game and it seems to be unrelated to whatever ammo they are using. That means that modifying each weapons damage output is the only way to alter the effectiveness of rounds? Are the listed damage values actually represent the caused max damage if the bullet goes through armor? So a 5.56 assault rifle can only do so much damage in one shot as listed? Also is there a math behind multiplying damage due to critical hits/headshots?

Sorry for the lot of questions I just need to clear this up in my mind before I go on altering values.

PS: A damage system based on ammunition type and barrel lenght cannot be implemented I guess? Bit fed up shooting people with a fal or g3 2-3 times to go down.. speechless

PS2: After a quick messing around I noticed that Vengeance is using Weapons.xml from AIMv53 folder not 1.13? What is the relation of AmmoStrings.xml and Ammotypes.xml? The weapons individual damage output is defined in ubImpact or such and raising it deals higher damage but also depletes energy of the shooter?

Actual damage dealt is not the value in the gun description. The gun description shows only the base damage value of the gun + modifiers. This is done to give the player something to compare guns.

In current 1.13 this base value is calculated like:
- get base value from weapon
- multiply by type multiplier from Item_Settings.ini
- add bonuses from attachments
- multiply by GUN_DAMAGE_MODIFIER percent from Ja2_Options.ini

To get the damage dealt there are multiple calculations done that depend on many things, for example gun range to shot distance ratio, armor piercing modifiers, HP ammo, bonus for high hit chance and if it's a critical hit or not. If you want to know precise formulas you will have to dig through the code.

Thanks for your reply, I looked it up and it seems it still comes down to base gun damage as Item.Settings.ini multiplier is set @1.0 as default and Gun.Damage.Modifier is @100% by default. I don`t know any attachements that would raise damage output. I wish I could find the formula but I chewed through all xml`s and ini files to no avail.

You asked if it was possible to overhaul damage. In a limited way (without touching every single gun) it is possible by modifying the damage parameters in Item_Settings.ini, at least for the different types of guns in 1.13. So if you feel that for example shotguns should do more damage just change the multiplier to something higher than 1.0.

If you want to figure out the precise formulas for damage calculation you need to read the source code. You won't find that in any XML or Ini file.

Btw. there are some attachments that modify damage. Silencers for example lower damage and some scopes increase damage.

Have anyone seen enemies performing artillery strike? True reason of my question is serviceableness of radio operator trait for mercs/imps. The most important in stock 1.13 was to jam enemy communication to disallow them to strike me with 6 mortar rounds . In V:R enemies are equipped with radio, but haven't hurt me by an artillery strike despite I carry a radio in a backup for half of the game. So I`m not convinced I did right by choosing the trait for my imp.

I had it once, so it is in the mod but to rare for my opinion. Im using Spy as a trait with Scouting bc TNT and the formen in oronegro has radio operator as a trait happy

So im now @ 86/86 progression and this is the loot im getting from a only elite full squad - diffiqulty is expert (the one before insane), tons of weapons, drop all, die hard mode.



I didnt sell anything. No Nightvision, No Armor. Existing Equip is pretty damaged - i knifed the most of the guys. I dont even need AP Ammo... Heres definitly something wonky.
Should the post put into the Bug Forum? I dont think this should be like that.

Ill continue not selling and look for other sectors loot.

1. Train marksmanship
2. Use scopes, lasers and bipods
3. Don't allow enemy to suppress your mercs, as suppression will reduce effective marksmanship and dexterity greatly

Yup, I noticed that. But even IMP or AIM character with 90+ marksmanship misses a lot from close ranges

@cbasd,

sorry, you surely don't know: I was able to test Vengeance Reloaded from the very beginning years ago.
Look at the credits in the game menu under "Others". These tests had been unofficial. I love this mod.

By the way: I was the only tester of Vengeance_1.13 by scorpion and had released it in the German forum.
I know the story of the game from Alpha to Omega and when something is new I test it first. And the possibility to assign Carmen was new in the former Version.
And in the former version you could use CTRL GABBI.

No further release has been made yet since the first beta launch just after Christmas, we're all beavering away on these bugs and a number of tweaks and improvements, but hope to get a new official sci out there soon.

Hello there,

i´ve got a question in relation to the mine income. After i freed Omerta i went to Drassen and conquerd the city. Stategic event is over and militia ist trained to blue.

The City has 100% Loyality but the mine only works with 50%. Can anybody tell me the reason for this?

Ja2_options.ini:

MINE_NO_FOREMAN_PENALTY = 50

May be that is the reason:

Setting 0 instead of 50 = 100 % income.

I believe you don't need a new game.

Sorry for my mistake.

My question above: "read" instead of "red".

I dressed him in the meantime with his cap: He is able to shoot now.

But when I change the sector I get the message that I have dedicated a wrong clothing.


Edit: I have helped myself. After saving and starting the gamesave he is now "white"!

The game tries to disguise him as a soldier of arulco. You can press CTRL+. to enter the menu and stop him from disguising.

@Jean Luc Picard
You have to recruit the mineforemen and give him the task to be the mining foremen the income will be 100% then.

3 Quick Questions

1). My problem is sometimes when I enter the map, usually from the top, my mercs are typically out of frame. No matter how much I try to move the map, I cannot seem to keep them in frame. I can eventually move them into the map more and it becomes fine. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

2). When starting the game, can I pick what time to Drop into the opening map? Usually my starting mercs have smgs. I'd much rather fight at night.

3). I usually like to take drassen as my first base, but with a lack of good weapons from BR, I tend to overextend my mercs trying to find better weapons. Can someone tell me where to find the weapon dealers? Coordinates would be great. I know Tony and BR have limited stuff. Any tips would be great!

1. Not sure what you mean there, unless your monitor is running at a different res than the game. Sometimes switching from a mercs inventory ui blocks out some of the map, so using the team portraits UI might help. Otherwise I don't know, maybe get a screenshot of the problem.

2. No you can't change the timing of your insertion, the mission begins at dawn I believe from the air.

3. Bobby Rays and Tony will have more of a choice when the new build is ready, as mentioned many times before some of these values weren't checked in late in the first beta release. In the meantime, or at the start of the game consider carefully what starting kits to use with mercs you employ. Other options are to consider looting maps that may have some weapon stashes, or stealing guns from other factions other than the Queen's army. Don't forget Arulco not only has it's own army but other warlord groups and company factions that might have different tools you might want to make use of, but there's always consequences.

Perhaps it's too late, isn't it?
Only if he is "red"?

Ilya is ever "white" now with his cap or a kevlar helmet.
