Hello. I am just wandering whether it makes a difference if you have your night vision googles attch to the helmet or directly put them in the slot of the head on the left side? i have read many posts about a shortcut to turn night vision on but cant get that work.so what is the better option to operate in the dark? thx in advance

IIRC, putting them on your helmet stores them there, it doesn't actually put them over your eyes.

SecretStamos would be correct. You need to be wearing the goggles on your face to use them, having them attached to your helmet is just for storage. If you are using Jazz' headgear graphics feature you will see visually what you are using, or alternatively will have a little grey NVG icon visible.

ok thx. but i dont need to push any keys to switch them on/off is that correct?
it happens often to me that in the night an enemy appears in lying position, shoots and than disappears so i cannot shoot him. and same thing every round until i go further to him.

You shouldn't be wearing NV goggles during the day because that will cause penalties. The game will tell you if one of your mercs is using the wrong goggles. In the docs folder in your game folder is a document with hotkeys including one to easily switch between sun and NV goggles.

At night you can see the muzzle flash of a gun so the shooter gives his position away (unless he is using a flash/sound suppressor). After that can't see him anymore but you still know where he is so you could throw a grenade of use some suppression fire.

Bonus/penalty of NVG and sun goggles depends on brightness lvl,
but shift-N goggle swap relies on daytime, it does not take artificial lights in town or underground sectors into account.

Activate mercs vision field overlay via Shift+V shortcut,
and check effect of wearing glasses/NVG in sector with artificial lights.

Depending on which version and mod of 1.13 you are playing. If using the stable 2014 version or Arulco Vacations mod, you can attach the NV to the helmet and wear the sunglasses on your face or vice versa, doesn't matter. All you have to do is Shift+N, day or night and your gear will switch to the appropriate item, Sunglasses if it's day or NV if it's night. No more switching manually as it was in vanilla. In the game options there are 2 options, to show graphics or icons for the gear, i prefer show icons, it shows on your mercs' portraits a grey NV or glasses icon, in tactical .

That's how it works in Vengeance: Reloaded too Gopas, no different from regular 1.13.

yesterday tried night ops and the vision worked fine. i have thought i will be sitting around in the dark end take one enemy after another out. but the oponemts threw everytime a light towards me and i was messed up from all sides without seeing the enemies. do you think once a light was thrown i need to put the night vision off again to see more? or any other tactics ideas for the night?

Yeah, they are very annoying with those break lights at night but what would you do if you were in their shoes ? Probably the same.

Which is why you need to use rifles/sniper rifles, weapons with a long range and pick your fights during the day. Make sure to have a scout in every squad to avoid ambushes and when you enter an enemy occupied sector, pick a spot, put everyone prone in a fan or circle formation, so they can't flank you or circle behind you, fire a shot to make some noise and when the soldiers come to investigate, start taking them out from long range. It is very satisfying and you don't need to rely on headshots, shoot them on the body once or twice and in the next round repeat to finish them off. You can go through battles like this without a scratch or even be seen by the enemy at all. You can go through battles without the enemy firing a single shot.

Since they throw break lights as soon as their turn is up, forget night ops. Don't play to their advantage, fight during the day and make them play by your rules and advantages.
