So, after quite a time again I'm re-playing JA2 vanilla 1.12 (well, some weapon stats are apparently adjusted at some point, but I believe that's all modding that's done) I found on actual ancient Win XP machine (powered up for different reasons, of course).
This time I went to San Mona, then down to Estoni, and early fourth day morning invaded Balime, then went up and took Alma (yes, lots of save-scumming). At 17:36 on the fifth day I raided Tixa, including the bug level. Note that Alma had no militia at that point, if it matters. Queen had spoken, but Alma mine is still operational and bug-free, on day six.
So, are the bugs in some other mine (like Drassen)?
Or should I met Gabby first for them to activate?
Or is something broken?
Next,
My Hummer team went north, from Alma to Drassen, and I was overjoyed to met Hamous at F12. However, I decided to rewind roughly six hours due to minor issues elsewhere, and among other things, reached F12 roughly an hour earlier. For my surprise, Hamous wasn't there! For some reason I was thinking that he choose where to camp out at the beginning of the game, is that wrong? Does he actually teleport around or is it diced for each new sector where he can be?

I don't think Hamous moves around like Deidranna's troops. He just appears at random with the "your troops noticed someone in this sector" message, so you can't chase him down.
For the Crepitus, a head miner has to inform you of an infested mine.
It can however happen, that a mine has been designated to be infested that is currently not in your possession, so once you claim that mine it should change into a bug infested one the next day or so.
It's rare to happen as by then the player usually owns more than just one mine.
Gabbi isn't needed to activate anything about the Crepitus.
They are only activated by getting to the second underground stage of Tixa or by owning 3 mines.
