Ok, long time lurker, absolutely a huge fan of all the work that has gone into this game! My only gripe is that all the modders on here (special recognition to smeagol, Tais, Sevenfm, Shanga, DeppressiveBrot, Flugente and Kitty! Many others worth noting, but just can't remember all their handles at the moment!)
I have run into a bit of a weird quirk!
System: Windows 10
Nvidia GTX960
Latest drivers and updates.
Ja2 1.13 latest download "Ja2-Unstable-2024-03-11" (Does not show a revision number on startup, just "@revision@...") Using this one as I was getting the "hit esc to end" fatal error with original download and install from github (this one is from a "mayo" something or other website that I found, due to one of Kitty's posts-can't find it again offhand, but this one works fantastically, very few game crashes, whereas previous installations have given me a fair number of crashes-enough that I was quick saving at the start and end of every turn!)
Aimnas latest version (downloaded from Github).
Ok, so the game starts and runs fine (indeed, the least number of crashes I have ever encountered with all the different versions I have tried!) however, when I take J9 Tixa, Shank does not show up, not even if I activate the cheat code and "alt + E"! I have opened the map in the map editor and I can see that he shows as being placed in a jail cell, towards the Southern part of the prison, next to a "beggar" and the editor shows that he is part of the "Dynamo, Shank" group, but he physically is just not there! Dynamo is in his spot and works fine, recruiting him is not a problem.
It may be worthwhile to note that this sector DOES tend to cause a lot of fatal errors with the "press esc to end", typically when I click the check mark to end my turn/as the AI begins the opponent turn.
Any thoughts on what may cause Shank to be placed on the map, but not show up in the game? There is no body and there was no shooting around the area where he should be, so he was not killed...
I DID kind of resolve the gas challenge, without him, by finding some old posts about adding items to BR Inventory! It seems BR now sells gas, unfortunately, it won't resolve the Jake Cameron/Shank/Estoni refuel for the helicopter challenge...
Any thoughts or wisdom is much appreciated! I am a big fan of all of your hard work!

Ok, one question at a time ;-)
-
latest 1.13:
the official download is at gitHub
https://github.com/1dot13/source/releases
if you see something like @revision@ instead of a revision number, it's not from there
I guess you refer to mayjeanies jenkins server? I took down the link to it at my How-to-get-thread because a.) we now have the gitHub release (the official home of 1.13) and b.) it contains useless glutter (resulting in a ~1.4GB download instead of ~500MB)
-
Shank:
if you see Shanks at groundlevel in a cell next to a cell with a npc from civgroup beggar, that's where he is when I look at map in aimnas - but also in aimnas, he is at his usual place in basement-map
my guess is that this isn't finished for aimnas
something like he only got placed there, but maybe something is off with his placement in editor (there's a checkbox to ensure character is allways there, maybe that's not checked?), related files in mercprofiles (sector coordinates for him might not got adjusted to groundlevel instead of basement?) or some other reasons
aimnas itself is unfinished w.i.p./abondened, many sectors still miss bigmaps and a lot of other issues are known, including unfinishable quests
if you're not hellbound to have bigmaps, you can try Brainmod, that's more or less Aimnas transfered to standard sized maps
can be found at
https://github.com/sun-alf/BRAINMOD-o
check the readme, especially the part about Brainmods own exe
Brainmod is working fine and gets regulary updates and fixes, it's well maintained by sun_alf

the described bug:
with latest 1.13 from gitHub plus Brainmod, you can enjoy all the goodies from Aimnas (expect the bigmaps)
and that probably also will help with that bug you described (which don't happen for me with latest 1.13)
[Updated on: Tue, 19 March 2024 01:43]
How to get: latest 1.13, 7609 and more | 7609 SCI (eng) | Compiling+SVN
I need more details. (Didi Hallervorden) Report message to a moderator

Marcus-thank you for your reply! Aimnas (with big maps-as Kitty mentions later) isn't finished, unfortunately, so no basement maps have been created (strictly big maps). Though, to be certain, I did take a merc in to the location the map editor showed Shank to be in, then turned him in each and every direction, just to make absolutely certain! But, I do appreciate that you jumped right over to try to help-that is exactly what I see with all the questions that get asked in this forum! You guys are freaking awesome!
Kitty-Thank you as well, for your super fast reply! I appreciate the tip on the "character is always there" check box, I will go and check it out, thank you!
I have saw the Brainmod mentioned a few times, haven't tried it yet (I do get a taste of it, when battling in an unfinished sector of Big Maps though!) The much smaller map, with the super long range weapons, makes for some interesting challenges, to be sure!
Honestly, I have fallen in love with the gargantuan big maps and the new scenery, trying to learn my way up into making some maps, to complete the big maps (if even just for myself! Though, I would be happy to share, if I ever get that project finished!)
I have downloaded the new one from Github (yes, you were correct-the Jenkins server is the one I got working "properly" first-before that, I was using an older version of aimnas and rev. 8681, until I saw Asdow's posts about LOBOT and tried updating from Github-got the "error of death on startup", ended up using the version from Jenkins, which worked well!) Very good chance that I need to just re-start by installing clean and then applying the Github, but I hadn't done that, as the Jenkins one was working very well...
Regardless, I feel like a fan would feel, if he was dropped in the middle of a whole raft of their favorite movie stars! I cannot even tell you guy's how much I appreciate just how much work you have all put into this game (my favorite one of all time-turned into "the OMEGA" of all time! By you all!)
Thank you both again for your time, I will report back, if I get this quirk worked out for Shank, and/or if I figure out how to create some more big maps (I saw a tutorial on this forum, just have to convince myself to take time away from playing, to actually make the maps! Lol).

As an update, I found in MercProfiles that Shank was set to coordinates of "Z = 1" (which appears to be a basement coordinate, as far as I can make out, from looking at other coordinates). However, I changed his Z coordinates to 0, same as many other recruitable mercs, fought my way back and captured Tixa again, he still was not where he should show up (possibly because I did not start a new game? I have a funny feeling that that is not all of it, though...).
Either way though, I am grateful for the assistance and suggestions I have been given, thus far! Just wanted to share info, in case someone else looked up this thread...
Thanks!
Dave.
