Hey all,

I'm in a JA2_1.13 (7609) Vengeance Reloaded, and have reached various dividing points.
I found Cobra and the Jeep south of Drassen and NW of Alma.
I had first Skyrider and then a team with Hector and Barry and Bull joining him to attack the "Barracks" sector F15.
There were 46 enemy soldiers (or so), with the militia (or some group of Arulcoans attacking the south "gate".
I don't know if my team killed any; I think so, but the numbers dropped precipitously, and I found they went to sector F14 where I left the Jeep.
Long story shortened I did this to build Skyrider's stats and morale.
When killing an enemy a MERC gets a morale boost (tweakable in INI). Skyrider almost refused to be happy, and didn't enjoy combat.
Is he only a pilot, really?
I read in another post if you don't want Skyrider as a MERC leave Airport sector to strategic map before he gets to chopper.
I didn't.
So now I have this bum; he sat languishing in Drassen (I thought he was just a pilot), now I'm stuck with him?
If I fire him, does he "go back to" being just a pilot?
Can anyone fly the chopper (like driving a Jeep, Truck or Hummer)?
Bob is a pilot, but can he fly anything? Can he train someone? Can I find another pilot?
My fault for letting Skyrider join.
Also even after a well-won victory, everyone else across the map is at least stable if not good and Skyrider is poor.
I found Fish in F15 and then noticed Skyrider was poor morale.
Are there MERCs on his hate-list?
I have a spread sheet of MERCs and no one appears as his enemy or hates them.
The only thing to recommend him (outside of being a pilot) is his strength, otherwise, he's a pain.

Hoping for insights.

Skyrider has a pacifist personality trait, so he gets no morale boosts from killing people. He will enjoy non-combatative assignments.

There is another pilot available in Arulco, though he may not always survive long enough for you to use him. Capt Bob Adams can fly the helicopter also as he has the 'Ace Pilot' trait, I can't recall if Skyrider can revert back to being just a pilot if you dismiss him, though if he returns to the Drassen map it might be possible.

In my games or Arulco Revisited, Vengeance Reloaded and Arulco Vacations. same things happens with Skyrider. Even if you go to strategic map and even walk to the sector to the south with the bar and return, you get "Thought you forgot about me Cap" and followed up be a message "Skyrider is recruited". It is unavoidable. But i don't mind at all. Before starting a game, i go to Merc Profiles and changing his specialties to Marksman, Technisian, Scouting. He can stay in Drassen, training militia, repairing items and in general guarding the sector where all of my gear is at. I am also changing seating capacity in Vehicles. 8 seats for cars, since i am using squads of 8 and 10 for the Helicopter. A Blackhawk can carry 8 passengers plus pilot and co-pilot, that makes 10. In case i need to fly John and Mary Kulba, from Chitzena to Drassen. Or load up mules with gear and transport them to my base faster.

Hey, Thanks.

Some of this I eventually discovered, especially when I tried to turn Skyrider into Tier 1 operator assassin; "I don't kill nobody, Cap" or something like that.
His mood was crummy if he was ignored and not flying; then going to Drassen to pick a MERC newly arrived (now he's "delivery or taxi driver"), his mood is GOOD.
My [Heard.Battle.Won] must have buoyed him up.
I'll adjust his profile and use his MECH:73 to repair with Gasket.
I wasn't sure I could find Skyrider again to use him as a pilot (in another swamp? if dismissed). I like Bob, but he costs.

Issue # 34 solved, for now.
Thanks, again.

Hey,

About seats in vehicles, I didn't think you could adjust them once the game was started. Or did I miss that?
It never occurred to me to try this; the Jeep found in F12 has four seats - so ... I can make it six or eight????
Neat trick.

Details about this campaign seem fewer that the vanilla or 1.13 standard campaign. I've been spoiled by copious discussion and hints in previous discussions.
I'll have to keep combing the columns, especially Jaime Suarez and his GPS Data disc, the SCUDs.
Someone said they never used it, and others couldn't get the system to fire.
I need the cash so I might just conquer Alma without the SCUDs.

All for now.

This is Reply #2.

I checked the Vehicles.xml in TABLEDATA folder in the DATA1.13 folder:

the Hummer, Truck, Eldorado and Helicopter (all [Enabled=1]) have seating set at 6.
The Jeep (ID=199) has seats set at 6, but my game has a maximum set at 4 - where I haven't found.
This seems like a "Set it before you start the game" feature;

Is it?

I unwisely jumped into the game and THEN tried to change things - and I knew better.
So ... this is FYI for future reference, I suppose.

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably want to edit the vehicles.xml in Data-Vengeance\TableData rather than the 1.13 folders.

Hawkeye's right. You can edit seating in vehicles.xml in Data-Vengeance\TableData, as he points out. You can also change Skyrider's personality from Pacifist to something else, in the MercProfiles.xml, also in TableData. Just change  Original Attitude to whatever you like, i prefer 0 for Normal. His marksmanship and repair skills are very good too. I don't mind him joining the team. However, that only leaves 9 seats in the helicopter but that's fine.

I prefer to spend a whole day, editing mercs, vehicles and other options, most of them can be found on the INI.Editor. Some of them can be changed, even after a game start. But in general, it's best to make all of your fine-tuning before starting a game. Many times i have restarted and restarted and restarted the same game, just because i've missed things. It's a nice hobby, to be honest, gives me peace of mind. I wish i knew more so i could make mods.
