Well. It's like Arulco revisited. The setting is a few years after you visited the country the last time, and there is a new threat.
Most of the city maps have undergone some renovation, and the country is overcoming the influence of Deidranna.
The nice thing about it is, you get this melancholic feeling when you go through the country, because most of the sectors are "more or less" the same as before, but not quite.
Also new weaponmod and all.
You should really try it, it's great.

When you're in for a new game, you could try Urban Chaos after completing DL. It's also set in the ja2 world, but it's quite a through mod. Almost new everything. Not for the faint of heart too.

You'll find both the downloads here at the forum.

DL is good, done very well, but I really like new NPC's, RPC's and all more than new weaponmods and a new place for playing (like Danubia). I have to say that Urban Chaos fulfills everything I could think of.

I have to agree. Deidranna, T-2000. Two villains to be finished off there. Did you know that if you teleport there in the beginning of the game, before you meet Mike, he's there! At Dume Island, guarding Deidranna!

I just finished JA2 again (for the first time in 4 years) and am interested in playing the MODS.
Can I import my character from my just finished game, or am I starting over from the beginning?
I haven't played UB, should I, before playing the MODS?
How do you rate the three: UB, DL, UC
Are they long?

You can import your character from JA2 to JA2:UB or JA2:UB based mods. But you have to start fresh in Deidranna Lives or Urban Chaos. UB is worth playing, but it's short. DL is good (reworked maps, story, new weapons). Vietnam SOG'69 is good too. Urban Chaos is the best mod I have played, longer than JA2 and better than JA2. But there are more mods I haven't tried.

I played DL and loved it. Right up until getting to the outskirts of meduna and the game crashing during dedriana's cut scene thing, and I didnt find out how to stop that until a good few weeks after I had given up an uninstalled it.

Must give it another go some time though...

I like how the pistols are not useless in this mod. In the original JA2, most of the pistols have horrible range and it actually took more AP to fire them when compared to rifles.

Now in this mod it takes like 3 AP to fire some pistols, which can be very useful when you don't have enough AP to shoot your big guns.

You're just spoiled by total conversions. DL was to JA2 mods what UB was to JA2. Quick wham-bam-thank-you-madam, only more imaginative and with a better twist in the plot.
