Rehiring dismissed mercs[message #345062]

Whenever you fire a mercenary in the original Jagged Alliance, they seem pretty angry with you about it, and often pledge to never work with you again, so I was wondering, is there a way to rehire them later on? Does it matter WHEN you fire them, or do you only get them once? Would appreciate some help, as I want to hire a decent doctor for one day to heal wounds before dismissing him.

P.S I have completed this game before, but for some reason I didn't actually try this?
