Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but can anyone confirm if the SV-99 is silenced in standard form? I see it mentions being suppressed but still sounds like an unsilenced rifle to me in game? Due to it's low damage ability I'm wondering if to just chuck it, if it isn't silenced.

While I don't have the answer for you, I can explain how you can find out yourself.

Assuming RR has an Items.xml, open it in MS Word (or some other editor), look for the XML for the weapon, between the and tags look for a tag and see if there is a number greater than zero.

If there is no tags (or the number is zero) for the SV-99, then the weapon is not silenced. For example in 1.13 the VSk-94 (some random gun I found as the SV-99 doesn't seem to be in 1.13) has 80, so it is silenced.

By the way the in game sound you hear as the player doesn't influence if the gun is silenced or not. The in game sound is controlled by and , which is independent of what the enemies hear.

Edit: Downloaded RR all in one patch, looked up the SV-99, the Items.xml entry has 50, checked the Weapons.xml and it has 60, so the weapon has an effective noise for the enemies of about 30, which is not really all that silent, the SV-99 is just a little less loud than a standard AN-94 "Abakan" in 1.13.

Best idea is to add a silencer to it

it is a specialty gun. IIRC it only has hollow point ammo and has limited range, so what it is meant for is to use it e.g. in night operations to take out poorly armoured enemies.

at night you don't need high range rifle.

SV-99 is used only when it takes enemy down in one shoot one kill. But not always happen this, unfortunatly!
